Lady Hawks Have Big Win Over Gonzales, 38-30

GO HAWKS!!

             GO HAWKS!!

Canyon Lake had a big win on Tuesday as they avenged an earlier loss to Gonzales with a win, 38-30.

This victory evened their district record at 4-4 and 2-0 for the second round of play.

“This is a good win for us since we lost to them (Gonzales) last time,” Head Coach Mary Beth Gallagher surmised. “We hit better from the free throw line and those were our only points in the fourth.”

Sarah Russell and Alexa Ramos finished in double figures with 15 and 12 points respectfully.

As the all important free throw played a huge roll, as the Hawks scored 15 points from the line and 9 of those shots in that fourth quarter in helping to secure this win.

CL Hawks and Gonzales played a tough and close game throughout the contest.

Canyon Lake had a 4 point advantage in that first quarter and both teams played those two middle quarters tied at 17 all.

That fourth quarter CL’s defense showed up big time in holding the Apache’s to 5 points as the Hawks sunk 9 of 16 shots from the line to inch out their win with an 8 pointer.

Canyon Lake will now welcome Navarro to the Hawk Nest this Friday as the upstart Hawks will try to get their 3rd victory in a row and help put them in a prime spot for finishing this year with an extra game.

Go Hawks!!
