Lady Hawks Soccer Win by Tying Burnet, 3-3

Unknown

Canyon Lake Girls Soccer won a tied game when they came from 3 goals down to knot the score as time expired on Tuesday night against Burnet, 3-3.

Burnet jumped out to a 3 goal lead and had CL on their heels until an awakening happened allowing this comeback.

“The girls played aggressive last night and the first half was rough for us offensively,” Head Coach Ryan Tierney said. “We had opportunities but could not put the ball in the net.”

Coach Tierney was commenting on that first half where the Hawks found themselves digging a hole that would be hard to escape from.

“The girls dug deep and made a decision as a unit to fight,” Coach Tierney got excited. “Rachel Bennet sent a the ball to Meredith Ellery who then scored off her left foot and Captain Chloe Cullen fired a shot into the back of the net inside the 18 yard box bringing the score to 2-3.”

That was Ellery’s first score this season as she had two assists going into this contest.

Still being down, Canyon Lake would still need to see if this momentum could carry the Hawks to finish the game.

“This is when we were rolling with momentum,” Coach Tierney said. “The tying goal came from a pass from Cullen to Bennett who drilled the ball past the Burnet Goalkeeper.”

Bennett leads this year’s team with 7 assists as Cullen had her 4th goal leaving her 3 goals from tying Brandi Schimonsky.

That tied the score and is the key for a game that would be counted as a win with a 3 goal comeback which can certainly help catapult the Hawks as this season draws nearer to district play.

Hey Coach, how do you feel right now? “Exhausted!”
