Canyon Lake’s JV unleashed an avalanche of athletes on the Buffaloes as their home debut was successful, 54-29.

“We got after them which gave us a lot of second chance opportunities,” Head JV Coach Brian Hooper said. “We have a lot of players and depth.”

The Hawks JV squad held the Buffaloes less than 10 points for each quarter as their lead grew with pressure and a good all around game.

With 16 steals, CLJV, opened up their offense by a great defense as Fox Tech could never find the room to have offensive power.

Canyon Lake controlled the boards to the tune of 58 rebounds and 30 of those bounds came on the offensive side of the court.

Michael Harwell had 13 rebounds and finished with 8 points as his offensive rebounds helped CL keep the offensiveive pressure on the Buffaloes and eventual 25 point victory.

“I just want to play aggressive and go hard,” Harwell said like a linebacker. “If I feel like I have a shot then I am going to do it….getting turnovers leads to fast points.”

Every Hawk had at least one rebound as CL showed a lot of action around the basket giving Tech no chance of staging a comeback.

Noah Gray was the other Hawk that teamed with Zach Taliaferro as these two Hawks combined for 13 steals leaving Fox Tech looking for a den to to house their Buffaloes.

“I was just trying and working as hard as I can,” Noah Gray said. “I am not strong offensively so I have to give it all I’ve got.”
