CL has Rough Start in Loss to Wimberley, 15-7
Go Hawks and pounce on the competition this year.
Canyon Lake began their new season getting drummed by the Texans as the Hawks had a hard time keeping Wimberley off the base paths.
Lauren Mentzer got the first start of the season and will try to forget this outing as quickly as possible in preparation for the Huber tournament that starts on Thursday.
Canyon Lake had 4 players that had their first game for the Hawks and adding up their combined stats shows this has an opportunity to be a decent season.
Adriana Zunker, Adriana Peaslee, Marley Carrizales, and Maddy Puente were those players with 3 of those names would be identified as Freshman.

Not a bad beginning for this crew of students and there will be more to come as this season matures.
Carley Dubois started her Senior campaign with 3 hits and a walk while scoring 3 runs as this lead-off hitter began the way she ended the year with another multi hit game.
Alternative Pest Control says Go Hawks
Catcher Kat Weber was able to continue her hitting streak to 5 games after stroking a single against Wimberley.
“The Navarro tournament will give us a chance to play some strong competition and we will also get a look at some players to see who can help us this season on varsity,” Head Coach John Gallagher stated. “We hit well last night but didn’t pitch well and also committed 7 errors.
Coach Gallagher stated the two main reasons for this first game loss in the pitchers not finding the strike zone and with 7 errors the defense will need to bring their gloves to the next outing.
“Playing on turf is always interesting and along with the weather, it was a tough night,” Coach Gallagher closed. “I expect a better effort over the next three days and I know the girls are excited to show what we have.”
Canyon Lake will have a chance to play 6 games in the 3 day tournament and that should give the team enough time to forget this first game.
