Soccer: Lady Hawks Lose Grasp and Game to Texans, 3-1

Rachel Bennett will be ready for turn-a-round game in Bandera on Tuesday

The Lady Hawk Soccer Team was close in their loss to Wimberley as the Texans left the CL’s Nest with a 3-1 victory leaving the Hawks needing a win this Tuesday on their road trip to Bandera.

Canyon Lake had the game tied with less than 6 minutes to go in the contest when Wimberley scored and took the contest to their eventual score of, 3-1.

“This was disappointing,” Head Coach Ryan Tierney stated. “Bandera is a winnable game for us and we will have to beat them…..we are passing better and we are playing with a lot of physicality.”

The Hawks had battled back against the Texans as this contest did not get out of reach until the last two minutes to this 12 win state ranked school.

That will give Hawk Fans a good idea of how close Canyon Lake is to the top of the ladder with a good pass here or there for a goal is all that might be needed to turn tough losses to great wins as this tough District 27-4A schedule continues.

Rachel Bennett was the player with the tying goal in the second half that put CL with a chance of making this a game to remember.

“I’m disappointed and we know we can play harder,” Bennett said. “We are disappointed as a team.”

On what Bennett was thinking while setting up for her goal, “I was feeling them on me and it all came with good communication.”

The Hawks do not have a lot of time as their next contest with Bandera looms on Tuesday with a back against the wall game against the Bulldogs.

“We have to get up quickly,” Bennett continued. “We are playing better and when game time comes we have to be inside the black lines…..we will come back stronger and we know the mistakes we made and we will correct them.”

Canyon Lake’s Ladies Soccer has been close for a long time with several year’s of playoff contests but getting to that next step is a hard goal to achieve but this year’s team know’s it is certainly attainable.

Pink Elephant says make Bandera Pink with envy- Go Hawks!!!

Bandera’s record is not sparkling, but in their last 3 games they have had some good quality contests.

A one goal loss to Fredericksburg and beating Somerset were two of those games and being in the game with the Billies at home will tell Canyon Lake that this game will need all girls on deck and focused as soon as they disembark off their bus.

Disappointing can be categorized as being downtrodden because a game was right in your grasp. Now Canyon Lake will need to break soccer rules and grasp that ball for a win!

Go Hawks!!
