Canyon Lake will continue their moon walk this week as the Hawks reach for the upper stratosphere in the short history of the football program.
Last year’s game against Travis was the tortoise and the hare, without the hare taking a break.
The Rebels showed off their speed early on and sped to the lead and eventual win.
What is the difference between this years Rebel team and last years?

The offense that ripped through the Hawks defense last season, lost a lot of firepower. Add the quarterback walking across the graduation stage too and you have an 0-3 Travis Rebel team coming to Hawk stadium this Friday.
This Rebel team will have Jonathan Caldwell taking the snaps this week. He has thrown for 230 yards in the three games with three interceptions and two touchdowns. Caldwell has also run for 63 yards, so you can deduce that he does not stay still behind the line of scrimmage for long.
The rushing game will be in the hands of two players, number seven, Nate Guerrero who has rushed for 97 yards on 19 carries and number 33, Chris Clark who rushed for 24 times and 96 yards.
The receiving corps has number 10, Jacob Aleman with five receptions for 105 yards and one touchdown. Chris Carter, number 24, has the most catches with eight.
Guerrero was the second leading receiver on last years team and now is a running back. The team has to be shoring up some of the holes left with last seasons team.
Another note that can’t be ignored, is the whippin the JV squad put on the Rebels last season. This nugget will let you know what each team put in their quonset hut from last year to use for this season.
The Hawks have unleashed some impressive numbers the last couple of weeks on the offensive side of the ball.
The offensive line has taken it upon themselves in opening holes for the running backs.
Opening holes might not be a problem for this week’s game. The Travis Rebels defense is giving up 395 yards a game on the ground.
This will pose big problems for the visitors, even if they find their offense this week, they will still have to try to outscore the opponent. The Hawks this season have thrived rushing the ball and that plays into the Rebels weakness.
All these numbers add up to a Canyon Lake victory for homecoming, but if you want the real reason the Hawks will win this week’s game?
Any of the teams coming down from the North can’t handle the southern heat that Canyon Lake deals with every day. That will be the tale of the tape for the game.
