MVMS 7A Squad had Burnet MS Genuflecting to Hawks in Loss, 28-8

Defensiva Linebacker Adrian Duque and Running Back/Offensive/Defensive Lineman Helijah Johnson after win over Burnet

Mountain Valley’s 7A team failed to score in just two of their possessions as Burnet ran for cover when the Hawks swooped down on the Bullpups, 28-8.

MV held Burnet to a paltry 2 yards per play as the Hawks dominated both sides of the line in having their way in this contest.

There was just one explosive play by Burnet Middle School when Moses Solis found an open lane to the end-zone after catching a pass for the only score for the visitors.

Helijah Johnson set the tone for this fly-a-way win after taking the first hand-off to start the game and then literally running over any Bullpup player that would get in his way.

            Go Hawks MVMS!

The carnage looked like a garage sale that was out of control for this tote as Johnson will get 3 hand-offs and total 54 yards on this drive after bulldozing across the end-zone for the score.

Johnson would not be finished as the behemoth would have his way going through Burnet’s offensive line to find a quarterback that would soon be stripped of the ball for a Bullpup turnover.

Playing as a running back and offensive lineman would put this player in a position of knowing what it is like to plow for holes for a running back and running through holes made by his teammates.

“We play as a team and work hard every week,” Johnson started.

The showdown would be Solis and Johnson in a dual and one of many plays had the Burnet runner getting taken down like it he was a calf in a rodeo.

“The hole was wide-open on that play,” Johnson would remember. “I hit him and he didn’t go down all the way so I just worked on getting him down.”

The result this time was another Hawk touchdown when McCormick would have the honors rushing for 5 yards and a two score lead. (which would be all Mountain Valley would need)

Burnet Middle School would respond with their pass play but taking that play out of the yardage equation would have this team averaging a whopping 0.9 yards per offensive snap.

Domination was the name of this game as one of the two series of offensive plays having a halftime horn stopping the drive as that would turn out to be Burnet’s best defensive play for this contest.

Mejia would lead the Hawks, rushing for 87 yards and being one of 6 MV players that would have a 5 yards or more average per carry.

Offense and Defensive domination would have Burnet genuflecting at the mere sight of this undefeated Hawk squad.

Hill Country Furnishings says Go HawksAdrian Duque was one of many defensive players that turned up the intensity for this conquest.

“The Coaches tell us we have to line up and get low and rap up,” Duque (Duke) would recall.

On the feeling when he had a unencumbered tackle, “That is exciting and it is easy money.”

“If they score, then we put that out of our mind and just go play football,” Duque said after being asked what his thought process was after the only score Burnet would have in that second quarter.

Mountain Valley will be back in action next week in Marble Falls and return to their home cooking on October 26th when the Hawks meet up with Fredericksburg.

Congrats and Go Hawks!!
