Canyon Lake’s Junior Varsity got back on track against the Greyhounds with a convincing win, 16-0.

The Hawks were a no-show last week in their game with Liberty Hill and CL would serve noticed that this game would have a different result as the JV goes, 1-0 in District 14-4A race.

“I am proud of the team as we came out fighting after last week’s performance,” Head JV Coach John Barthels recalled. “Our Defense played great and our Offense took care of the ball.”

Canyon Lake doubled the Greyhounds total yardage and never let Boerne have a chance to run as the Hawks had them bottled up.

Boerne never got inside the Hawk’s 20 yard line as the Greyhounds would go 3 yards forward and 2 yards back throughout this contest.

The best drive for Boerne came in the 2nd quarter as the Greyhounds started on their 31 yard line and moved the ball to CL’s 28 yard line.

Then, Cody Kline would get a sack for a loss of 6 yards….then a fumble and another 6 yard loss, that had the Visiting team needing 22 yards to keep their drive going.

Enter Stephen Sharp and a nice interception that stopped what would be Boerne’s best drive with nothing to show for it.

Both teams would exchange punts when Canyon Lake had 34 seconds to score from their 41 yard line, after stopping Boerne short on downs.

Andrew Kullberg would respond with a 15 yard rushing play that would give the Hawks a first down on the Greyhounds 42 yard line with 5 seconds left in the first half.

Rose had already inflicted pain to the Dogs with a 55 yard Connore Rose run in the first quarter and then with a Boerne Prevent defense, the Hawks would sweep around the end and that had almost every defensive player pancaked as Rose would put on some moves down the sideline for a 42 yard touchdown run.

That would break the game as the Greyhounds never threatened for the rest of this contest.

Only 70 positive yards for the visitors in the 2nd half, for a whopping 3.7 yard per play average.

North Shore Pharmacy says Go Hawks!!

Canyon Lake added a new player for this game and season as Isaiah Valdez enrolled at Canyon Lake last week and saw action in this game, as he finished with 16 yards.

One play was for 14 yards as the pile moved while finding it hard to see who the Hawk running back would be when the play stopped.

The ReSporter will have YouTube interviews for Valdez and Kullberg as Canyon Lake will now look to next week’s date against Fredericksburg.

Congrats Hawks!!
