Jaren Marmolejo will be representing the Hawk Nation in Corpus on Monday as he will be running in the Regional Meet.

“He earned 10th place at district by running a new personal best, 16:49,” Head Cross Country Coach MaryBeth Gallagher said proudly. “In my time as coach, I have never had a runner run a sub 17 minutes.”

“We also had a JV girl medal in 13th place and Sabrina Chavez finished 16th and they are both freshman,” Coach Gallagher finished.

That is good news for future CC teams as we are proud of Jaren and hope he does well this Monday.

CL’s Volleyball crew played one of their season best games in a loss to Fredericksburg last Friday and will finish the regular season this Tuesday in Bandera.

Canyon Lake Volleyball has put themselves in a spot that no other Hawk sport has achieved.

After winning a District Title 2 years ago, the two 2nd place finishes has fans feeling disappointed but looking back a mere 5 years ago, any fan in the stands would throw a parade if they knew there would be a chance to finish 2nd and have 20 win seasons as an after thought.

That is where this sport is, as making the playoffs, is an afterthought and finishing in the upper echelon of district races a common occurrence.

So, congratulations Hawk Volleyball as you prepare to meet Wimberley for the first round of games next Monday or Tuesday at the end of this month.

Finish Strong!!

CL’s Football team will have another important quest this week as Fredericksburg will come to the Hawk Nest for the final home game this season.

Canyon Lake had a big win last Friday as they went to Boerne and ruined another school’s homecoming.

Beating an undefeated team this late in the season has not been done and the Hawks now boast a 4 game winning streak when the Billies take the field.

The Hawks control their own destiny as they are perched in first place at this writing and a win over the Billies will be a huge accomplishment as this Billie team has put some skins on their wall during the past two months.

Beat Burnet 56-07
Went Overtime to Wimberley and lost 37-34. The same Texan team that beat your Hawks at home, 20-13.

The Team’s motto is ‘Finish’ and that will be the case this Friday as CL finishes their home games and try to run their winning streak to 5 in a row.

Last year’s team ran their winning streak to 5 games as they finished one game away from tying the 2011 Hawk team who had a 6 game unbeaten record that still stands.

It was a good conquest with last week’s victory on the road and now being just as focused for Fredericksburg will be a must.

Canyon Lake will be starting the Girls Basketball schedule this Saturday when Fox Tech will be at the Hawk Nest for a scrimmage. Their regular season will begin the next Friday as Head Coach Zach Burleson will be welcoming a lot of returning players.

Last year’s crew was very young and seeing what might be in store for this year will be a fun time with some surprises to count on.

Go and support your Hawks and see you this Friday!!

Go Hawks!!
