Canyon Lake will have more basketball as the Christmas Break looms this week.
This Tuesday both teams will be in action as the Boys will have another road game this time in Sunnybrook while the Girls will play at home against Navarro.
In that home game, Canyon Lake Ladies, will have one of their biggest tests of the year when the Panthers enter the Hawk Nest. Both of these schools are presently perched in the Top 25 in two polls.
Navarro is ranked 14th and 23rd while your Hawks stand 17th and 20th.
The Lady Hawks have been riding high so far with a 7 game winning streak coming into this contest while Navarro is no slouch having a 15-5 record and 3 game streak of wins. CL beat Navarro last year, 57-53 on the road and will look to see if they can have a repeat of that performance.
This should be a go-to game for the Hawk Nation and with a win, another notch on their victory climb as this win would tie the all-time victory total for this club.
Canyon Lake will then be off until a tournament in Comfort to end this year’s schedule and welcoming 2018 with a road game in Johnson City, then District 28-4A gets going on January 9th.
CL’s Boys are still learning as this crew suffered two losses last week and will hope to change those losses to wins. Two tough contests on the road against Sunnybrook on Tuesday and La Vernia for a Thursday affair.
This year’s Hawk team has a many players that were part of a JV team that reeled off a double digit winning streak last year and will need to grab some of that mojo as Canyon Lake will be pitted against some very good clubs at the Fredericksburg Tournament.
January will usher in District 28-4A action for the Boys and Girls as those spring sports start to raise their heads from their slumber.
