                Let’s Go Hawks!

A good week for Hawk Sports as CL had some significant wins across the board.

For Basketball the Lady Hawks won a big contest at Fredericksburg that helped propel this group to a share of First Place in their district race after sweeping Bandera on Friday night. Those wins coupled with a Billies win over Boerne did the trick. Now there are 4 basketball teams within a game of each other as the schools start the 2nd round of action.

Canyon Lake will take Tuesday off and then be back in action on Friday, when Boerne comes to the Hawk Nest. The Ladies will have a pay back game with the Greyhounds as this game was the only loss in that first round, earlier this month. With 4 teams vying for the Championship, you know the next item to consider, will be those tie breaker rules that would be used to separate schools.

There are two home games left and having a chance to catch the Ladies might be put on your to-do list. Fredericksburg will be the other home game during the 2nd round of action.

CL’s Boys Basketball won an important game on Friday night with a win over Bandera on the road. This game was significant because you only need to beat one team to secure a playoff spot. This victory over Bandera will give the Hawks a chance to improve and have a chance to surprise some other teams before everything is said and done. They will travel to Boerne for a Friday night game starting at 500pm.

Don Chente says keep going strong and Go Hawks!!

The cold weather cancelled the girls soccer match last week and they will have two road contests this week. Tuesday, has your Lady Hawks taking on La Vernia as this group will look to reverse an earlier loss to the Bears. Then another road tilt with Antonian on Friday will finish off this week’s action.

Antonian is always a tough out and LV has already proven they have a decent team. This will be a week of seeing where the Ladies stand in the grander theme for this season.

Canyon Lake’s Boys Soccer won the Canyon Lake Classic Soccer Tournament last week. This team is undefeated (6-0) this season and have been scored on just once. That was a penalty kick to boot.

CL beat St. Anthony on Saturday in the Championship game after taking care of Pleasanton that morning. Soccer is producing some good results for Canyon Lake and this week the Boy’s will have two home affairs.

On Tuesday, the Hawks will have a rematch of their Area Playoff game last year, when CL beat a very solid Gonzales club that allowed this Soccer team to be the first ever to advance to that next round of play in any team sport. Then, your Hawks will take on Floresville on Friday with both tilts kicking off at 700pm.

                Let’s Go Hawks!

Swimming will be competing in the District 28-5A Championship at the end of this week in San Antonio. Notice the District is a 5A competition. Smaller schools have a disadvantage simply based on the number of athletes and to make matters worse, not having a diving team.

In the past, Canyon Lake has performed well during this Meet and will look to keep improving and qualify as many Swimmers for the Regionals in February.

Good Times for Canyon Lake and if you have time and are tired of looking at your TV set, then find a home game and see what is happening at Canyon Lake.

Go Hawks!!
