Yes, a lot of numbers above but what you will notice on how this sport has progressed is striking.

Offensively, you have a team that is right there with last year’s season and hitting double digit goals beginning 5 years ago when that Hawk team reached 18 goals for their first 6 contests.

Defensively, you will notice that this has been a great improvement on all fronts as that one goal that has been surrendered was scored on a penalty kick.

The Hit Man says Go Hawks!!

“The Canyon Lake Classic was a great success, Head Coach Ryan Tierney said.   “This tournament couldn’t have been made possible without the numerous parent volunteers who worked so hard to make this tournament happen and the coaches and their squads who provided great entertainment all weekend long.  There were some phenomenal athletes at this tournament and it made the quality of the competition supreme and enjoyable to watch.”

Coach Tierney continued, “The Hawks team has started this season on a positive note.  The guys are playing quality soccer and seem to be playing as one unit who are striving for a common goal; to win one game at a time.

This tournament allowed us to showcase our strength in many different ways.  Our defense anchored by Michael Carpenter, Lester Boehm, Jaren Marmolejo and Mason James, only conceived 1 goal for the entire tournament and that goal came off of a Penalty Kick in the Semi-final game.

We have put a lot of emphasis into our defense.  We believe if we keep the opponent to 0 to 1 goal, that we can win any game.  This goal was also the first goal scored on us for the season.  Going forward Defense will be a huge Focus.

Offensively we are able to score in a number of ways and the tournament showcased this.

Go Hawks Boy’s Soccer & Congrats

Trenton Lorett is a major threat for us at the Striker position.  His speed and ability to find the back of the net is a minouse to any defense he faces.  Trenton had 6 goals and a Hat Trick for this tournament.  Our Mid-Field is aggressive and do a great job of moving the ball.  They keep the opponent unbalanced with direct and indirect play with the soccer ball.  Players like Nash Young, Mathew Bell and Josh Sczech throttle the central part of the field and can take over games. Bell had 5 assists and 1 goal and Young had 5 goals, 1 assist and a Hat Trick in this tournament.  These are individuals, but these wins are not possible without the entire effort of the team as a unit.  They all play together, aggressive and know their roles.  Their ability to play as one allows them to play with success.”

Thanks Coach Tierney, the Hawks will be in action tonight when they face Gonzales in a rematch of last year’s 3rd round conquest.

Go Hawks!!
