Canyon Lake’s Volleyball crew did not have a successful week after suffering two losses to Johnson City and Blanco. Those two set-backs now have Canyon Lake below the break even point record wise, 10-11, for the season.
The Hawk’s will continue their non-district slate when they go on the road this week to Austin Crockett and Kerrville Tivy. This will be a stretch out your arms time as District 28-4A looms closer when Boerne will be at the Hawk Nest on the 21st of this month to start that part of their campaign.
A Kerrville contest that should give Canyon Lake a good idea of where they stand going into district play as this Tivy squad has played several schools in the Hawks district.
Tivy beat Freddie 3-2 Tivy lost to Freddie 0-2 Tivy beat Wimbo 3-0 Tivy lost to Freddie 2-1 Tivy lost to Bandera 0-2
Both Hawk Sub-Varsity teams were winners this past week and will look to continue their dominance. CL’s JV had to come back in their win over Johnson City but they rebounded to win while CL’s Freshman team looks to be loaded this year as they continue to rack up victories.
Take notice that this Hawk Freshman crew has two of their teammates playing up with one on the Junior Varsity and Varsity.
Canyon Lake Sub-Varsity Football teams were not as lucky, starting this season with two last minute losses at the hands of Marble Falls. Mistakes was the main contributor to those set-backs.
CL’s JV gave up two touchdowns on turnovers after coming up short, 24-21 and the Freshman lost on with two seconds left on the clock when the Mustangs squeaked in a touchdown using everyone including their trainer to push the ball across the goal line.
These two teams will take to the road this Thursday to Pfluggerville Weiss and see if they can turn the tables and have a better drive home.
Canyon Lake’s Varsity shut-out Marble Falls and have recorded two shut-outs to open their season these past two years.
A Hawk 16 point lead in that first quarter was all that was needed and this week Weiss will come to the Hawk Nest while Canyon Lake continues their non-district season. A good defensive effort and now the hope is for an improving offense as they get the kinks worked out.
Cross Country will be in Liberty Hill this Saturday as they continue to improve their times in preparation for district.
Enjoy your week and Go Hawks!!
