         ================================================================

Pflugerville Weiss is starting their first season participating in a district setting and did not have a successful start after suffering a loss to Leander last Friday, 23-3.

There are some take aways from the Wolves contest coming in the amount of yards they surrendered in that set-back. Leander ran for 365 yards while averaging 7 yards per attempt. There was just one completion, but that catch went for 89 yards and a score.

Offensively, Weiss totaled 148 yards that was evenly divided accumulating 66 yards on the ground and 82 through the air.

A good sign was averaging 45 yards per punt which can help a school reverse field position and Weiss did have one interception in that battle.

Jackson Sandlin took the snaps and accounted for 80% of the total yards while rushing for 37 yards to go along with those passing yards.

Jaden Askew will be in the backfield as their primary runner while Joseph Robinson and Calin Rogers both tied with 3 catches and over 30 yards of real estate.

Canyon Lake got the job done in their win over Marble Falls to open their campaign, but the offense did have turnovers while struggling to get a consistent running game.

One pass completion to open the game and Sophomore Peyton McMullen was successful with his debut as quarterback while Jacob Ruff was a load with over 150 yards up the middle helping CL in sustaining enough drives for this win.

Defensively, your Hawks, shut down the Mustangs and only allowed them grazing privileges after Canyon Lake’s 4th shut-out recorded, but Marble Falls last time with the ball reached CL’s 1 yard line, but a missed snap sealed the shut-out.

Let’s Go Hawks!!

Alex Hardin with 3 sacks and one caused fumble was accented with Greyson Lee recording 12 tackles headlining the Hawk’s defensive effort.

Hard to know with such a new school, but Canyon Lake can vouch for making great strides in their 2nd year when they finished that season with a playoff and 6-4 regular season finish.

If the Slot-T is firing then Weiss will need to show improvement from their opening contest.

Welcome the Wolves and Go Hawks!!
