The Hit Man says, ‘Do it Again Hawks!!’

This is Homecoming for Canyon Lake, as they will welcome the Smithville Tigers to the Hawk Nest in this battle of two teams with winning records entering their 4th game of the season.

Smithville started on a roll taking care of business and outscoring their first two opponents 110 points. Then they met up with Columbus in a scoring fest with both teams reaching 109 points in the Tiger loss.

Canyon Lake have yet to taste defeat this year and have won 11 of their last 12 games. This will be the Hawk’s 3rd home game this season and The Lake have won 9 of their last 11 home contests.

Smithville will have several weapons on offense with a lofty average of 52.7 points per game against a Hawk defense that has given up 17 points and a little over 5 points in their battles on the gridiron.

Junior QB, Lane Otto, will be taking the snaps for the Tigers and has accounted for 532 yards via the airways with 6 touchdowns and 5 interceptions.

On the ground, Smithville, has 3 backs totaling over 100 yards with Brice Drisdale leading the charge with 220 yards. Cameron Juarez is not far behind (172) followed by Otto with 122 yards.

Go Hawks

This will be another Hawk opponent that has a QB with positive rushing and Otto has totaled 649 yards and accounts for over half of yardage gained.

Receiver Junior Kirt Hawkins is tearing it up with 275 receiving yards at a 27.5 yards per catch. As a team, Smithville’s receivers have an average of 23 yards per reception.

Defensively the Tigers will be relying on a Sophomore Linebacker, Chris Sanders as he leads Smithville with 10 solo tackles and Greg Gallegos leading with 12 total tackles for the year.

Canyon Lake has played a tougher schedule and that should help in this battle, with a Hawk Defense that is making it hard for opponents on the ground and air.

CL has been hounding opposing QB’s and if that part of their game continues then this might be a tough night for our visitors.

Offensively, Canyon Lake continues to improve after taking over the last 3 quarters of last week’s win over the Texans.

Hill Country Furnishings says Go Hawks

                Congrats Hawks!!

The Lake averaged 15 yards per play during that time period, with explosive plays all over the field.

Hawks that stood out? Linebacker Greyson Lee with 15 tackles, Jacob Ruff breaking the 200 yards rushing plateau finishing with 222 yards. The Lake had their best passing night thus far after an All-Time explosive play when Sr Chance Martelli teamed up with QB Peyton McMullen for the longest offensive play in CL’s history covering 93 yards.

Offense against Defense and the difference will come down to seeing if CL’s offense can take care of the Tiger’s defense.

Go Hawks!!
