Canyon Lake JV were a Blurrr in Win Over Blanco, 38-0

The Blurr was still going strong during this post-game speech.

Canyon Lake’s Junior Varsity were a blurrrr in their victory over the Blanco Panthers in winning, 38-0.

“That was all offense and we just kept at it,” Coach Bret Hodges said calmly. “We were able to get out and then showed our speed.”

            Way to Go Hawks!!

This happened countless times for the CLJV team and with some decisive blocks the running backs were racing for the goal line.

CL can use this outcome in two weeks when their games are more important with the opening of district play.

“This is our scout team and they will not face anyone better than our varsity,” Coach Hodges continued. “You want to go into district play winning and the intensity will be higher in their next game.”

The Hawks started this contest with their first 5 plays resulting in three touchdowns. A total of 27 plays and 15 of those snaps resulted in 11 or more yards.

Just on the touchdown plays, The Lake, covered 238 yards.

Ryan Rivali led the way on the ground finishing with 151 yards with a lofty 30 yards per carry.

“I give credit to Coach Moses during the track season and constant conditioning,” Rivali speed read. “It kind of starts building through time and effort.”

From L-R, Ryan Rivali, Tyler Pauly, and Kolten Belcher. It was all a Blurrrrr!!

Rivali and Devyn Placeras wreaked havoc on this Panther defense as these two players combined for 234 yards after 8 plays and 3 touchdowns.

“My first job on that play (jet sweep) is to see what the block does and then I will break outside or back in.”

What do you see when you reach the outside? “In my mind I see a 100 meter dash and just go full speed.”

That, Full Speed, caused The ReSporter’s picture to be blurred for this article.

Two passes and two touchdowns was vintage slot-t and newcomer Tyler Pauly was in on one of those two passes on a 3rd down play in that 3rd quarter.

“I’m the catching swing man on that play,” Pauly said. “We finally ran a play we had been practicing this week.”

          Way to Go Hawks!!

Pauly comes to the Hill-Country from Lorena, “It is a lot different coming from a spread to a slot-t”

That is really not a revelation….Canyon Lake in this slot-t offense had just two 3rd down plays and never reached a 4th down situation.

On what Pauly thinks this Hawk team will need to do when district starts, “I hope we get better and win the rest of our games and it is always a challenge when we go against the varsity.”

The Hawks have not always had this sort of game with Blanco but this contest was a track meet.

QB Kolten Belcher talked on how this battle started with a pass to a wide open Jesse Horner on the 2nd play from scrimmage.

“It felt just like practice,” Belcher stated. “They were keying on Jesse Horner and we started off strong and he had it…..but this game would not have been as successful without our line and (71) Anthony Brown, (72) Manuel Alvarado, and (66) Tyler Atencio.”

Now that sounded like a QB with a lot of wisdom in knowing how to stay clean when that line keeps the quarterback standing and forging holes for all those explosive plays.

Canyon Lake’s JV will now prepare for District 14-4A in two weeks and it will all be a blurrrrr!!

Go Hawks!!
