Brandon Robinson’s Homer Ends Regular Season Over Jourdanton, 3-2
Hawk’s walk off home-run by Brandon Robinson gives The Lake a 3-2 win over Jourdanton in the last regular season contest. District 28-4A play will begin the next time CL puts on their cleats for a team that forged 9 wins going into this next phase of their schedule.

Four of The Lake’s 7 hits went for extra bases with that last one coming in the form of Robinson’s first home run with no outs to start the bottom of the 7th inning.
“With this being my 2nd year on varsity, that one more season of seeing good pitchers, has helped me,” B-Rob said. “I am seeing the ball well and my swing is a lot better and everything is coming together.”
Robinson was the lead-off hitter in this affair and that change could not have happened at a better time as that move allowed a quicker chance for an at bat. Robinson has hit safely in his last 5 games with a .529 batting average during that span.
On hitting the homer, “It was crazy and kind of surreal and as I was rounding 3rd base, I just told myself to be sure to touch home plate…..I hustled out of the box as soon as I hit it and as I was rounding first base I saw that the ball had gone over the fence. I came to bat just wanting to reach base and my mind set was just to get on base.”
That certainly paid off well as Robinson had an opportunity to reach all the bases as the welcome party was waiting for him as he came home.
The bottom of the Hawks batting order reached base 71% on this night which is one of those good signs a team looks for in getting runs which can result in wins.
“That was their best pitcher and I told the players that the key was to have quality at bats and not to take as many pitches,” Head Coach Victor Escamilla assessed.
On Ethan Slater’s play, “We need to get more production and I am proud of Slater in getting over the hump…and that was a good sign tonight as we will be successful when we get the bottom of the order on base.”
Canyon Lake had two triples and a home run coming from the first batter in 3 of those innings and they all resulted for enough to go home a winner.
Cale Claycomb had another effective outing in striking out 9 Indians while Matt Anderson came in relief and continued that motif in striking out 4 more on this night in getting the win.
Both Hawk Pitchers are one and two for strikeouts as Claycomb improved his strikeouts to 44 in 25 innings of action while Anderson has accumulated 33 strikeouts in his 24 innings on the mound as he moved his record to 3-0 so far this season.
The Hawks did not have an error which will be an imperative for the coming weeks in district play.
CL will start their district play on the road next week as the Hawks will open with Boerne and then a short drive to Wimberley.
Next home game has Llano coming to the Nest on Tuesday April 2nd, come out and see the HAWKS GO!!
