CLJV Powered their Way for a 30-8 Win over Marble Falls

Hawk’s JV Taking it All in after a Win over Marble Falls, 30-8.

The Canyon Lake Junior Varsity raced out for a 22 point lead by halftime as a difference this year had was all good news for The Lake’s JV.

Last year, as Freshman, most of these players on CL’s team had suffered a close loss but after a year of growth, it was a different result as CL was in control throughout the second time around.

There were two Hawk’s that passed the 100 yard plateau with Noah Du Menil (113 yards) and James Bates (112 yards) were joined by a nifty 76 yard run from Dominick Vaillant that added more salt the the Mustangs sores and Hawk win.

“My job was to get by that first guy,” Du Menil said like a tactician. “Everyone else had one block to get and that allowed me to bounce outside. After that I just lowered my shoulder and hoped to hit them harder than they would hit me.”

That was ‘Hit Harder’ mantra would come to fruition for Du Menil as that resulted starting this season with over 100 yards on the ground.

Four different Hawks scored as the three above runners and Devyn Placeres being the other Hawk to cross the goal line.

CL’s Defense allowed a paltry -1 yards of offense to Marble Falls going into halftime talks.

Noah Du Menil and Matthew Soza helped CL with a dominant game on both sides of the line.

Explosive plays were a common occurrence for Canyon Lake’s JV squad and having the only drive not scoring ending with on downs, in that first quarter of play.

Bates defined explosive plays with a 67 yard run to open CL’s offense up in that 2nd half after the Defense held the ‘Stangs after opening the half with the ball.

With 10 minutes per quarter, Canyon Lake averaged right at 8 points per minute giving you an idea of how dominant this game became.

That would be the end of CLJV’s scoring as the game played out with a convincing win.

In defense for Marble Falls was in having a new offensive game plan as the School had implemented the Slot-T (the same as CL’s) and for those long in the tooth Hawk fans can go back in their memory banks and remember how hard this offense would be to start a season with.

Matthew Soza finished with enough tackles that had many of these Mustangs having his #44 branded on their jerseys.

               Way to Go Hawks!!

“We had to get mentally into this game and get hyped up,” Soza said like a cheerleader. “We basically knocked their teeth in and it is just a matter of having to know where they are going and seeing how our lineman took their blocks allowing the linebackers to come in with the tackle.”

That was a common happening with the Hawk JV defense allowing just 5 first downs for this game.

Great plays throughout this battle that was capped off with a 27 yard pass play from QB Keith Bowers to a flying diving Blayne Carnes that catch was a thing of beauty.

Dominance would be the theme on this night and CL will hope to have similar results when Weiss comes to the Hawk Nest next Thursday!!

Go Hawks!!
