Canyon Lake swept in Volleyball and Football last week as the Grid-Iron will take a mini-break with the Varsity and Freshman Football teams, while the Hawk’s Gold and Junior Varsity will be in action on Thursday after taking a break this past week.
CL’s Volleyball took care of business with a win over Marion and then opened with a win on the road to start District 28-4A play in Boerne.
To a person, you will hear the Ladies give stories on how hard it is to play in Boerne as they give high grades to the Greyhounds Student section in making games difficult.
On Friday, that would not be the case after finishing off Boerne with a 25-6 final set for this tough road win. That first set went to this Home Team but that would be the highest number of points the Greyhounds would see for this night as each following set they scored fewer points consecutively.
That final set had your Hawks taking off in scoring the first 17 points and coasting to that final 25-6 victory. It would be an empty gym in leaving for home, after such a humiliating defeat.
Canyon Lake will continue their district schedule with two home games this week against Llano and Wimberley.
They Yellowjackets were beat by Wimberley in their first district battles and the Hawks will look to see if they can continue adding to their 8 game winning streak.
With the Varsity Football team enjoying an off-week should have the Hawk Nest packed by The Student Section.
The Lake’s Tennis team qualified for their first play-off this past week and will have a Bi-District match in Marble Falls on October 12th in facing Liberty Hill.
Congrats to this upstart team and now Canyon Lake has added another team sport into the T-Shirt business to commemorate this accomplishment.
CL’s Cross Country will be in Seguin to run in the TLU Invitational on Saturday. As there will be one more meet in Llano before the District Meet comes calling later in October.
Way to Go Hawks!!
