CL Gold in Them There Hills after Loss to Georgetown, 21-0

Hawk’s Gold Team Finished Season with a District 28-4A Championship but lose to Georgetown.

The Hawks Gold football team finished their successful season with a loss to a Georgetown team that was just better. There would be no hanging of heads as the schedule was a more important aspect for this team.

Signature Homes says, Go Hawks!

Picking up teams for filling out a schedule, after the season has already started comes for a few schools that end up having more players than teams to help give the players time on the field. Having more students means adding games that will have teams coming from larger schools.

That was the case on this night as well other games during this season.

Canyon Lake could not establish a run game which for a slot-t crew will usually result with a loss, 21-0.

This Gold team did respond with a decent defensive game in holding the Eagles to 144 total yards.

Defensive Back AJ Acosta stopped one Georgetown drive with an interception in the end zone ending that promising Eagle drive.

“I understand that I am smaller than everyone, so I always come out and work,” Acosta said in response to how his size does not seem to deter his determination on the field.

In fact, Acosta football IQ will go a long way in helping him clear whatever future hurdles that come calling. “I will work out, get bigger, and come out and be ready,” Acosta said on his work during the off-season.

Kody Hernandez, Rylie Terry, and AJ Acosta after they finished their season as District 28-4A Champs!

There were other impressive series of downs which saw Defensive Lineman Kody Hernandez during that 3rd quarter have two consecutive TFL (tackle for loss) that pushed the Eagle line of scrimmage back 11 yards.

“I am just trying my hardest to get through their line,” Hernandez said. On his outlook for this season and next year, “I’m excited and happy with everything…we will have to keep a positive attitude and work harder and get stronger and better.”

These are the type of players other Hawkster’s will need to be looking behind them to stay ahead. When you have players trying to make a mark it will breed more success for a total team effort for future Hawk teams.

Canyon Lake was able to penetrate down to the Georgetown’s 1 yard line but failed on their last play going into halftime.

This drive started on the 47 yard line and an impressive run of 19 yards from Rylie Terry helped put CL in scoring position.

                 Let’s Go Hawks!!

“This Gold team was better than I thought and we tried hard,” Terry quipped. “Now we can do stuff.”

Terry was in his second game for the Gold team and had one of the most productive games his last time out when he was responsible in helping CL’s defense with 3 turnovers (one interception and two fumble recoveries). One fumble was caught in the air and returned for a TD.

On the offensive side of the ball, Terry had a long jaunt for another TD against Fredericksburg.

That game clinched the 3rd game against the Billies giving them a District 28-4A Championship.

This group of players will look to come back next year with more resolve that will help Canyon Lake with more depth and those next players to turn heads for the Hawk Nation.

There is Gold in them there Hills and this group of players will be showing off as their careers continue through their Hawk years.

Congrats and now we need to start panning for more Gold….Go Gold Hawks!!
