JV Hawks Throw Tigers by their Tail in Win over Smithville, 15-3

Canyon Lake Junior Varsity got back on the winning side after a beat down of Smithville, 15-3 to start this week of play.

Short-Stop Brayden Welch had a two hit and 3 rbi night in win over Smithville, 15-3.

This game was switched to a road game in Smithville due to a threat of rain on Tuesday.

CLJV did not let this night go to waste in disposing of these Tigers as The Lake batted round the order in their last two innings while Hunter Anderson struck out 12 while giving up just one hit in this whitewash.

Doing the numbers, the Hawk’s Defense did not have much to do as Anderson was responsible for 13 of the 15 total outs when you add the pick-off of one of those Smithville athletes.

Andrew Miller will get some accolades with a double and triple as Brayden Welch matched Miller’s two hits that resulted in 3 rbi’s.

Base Runners would be aplenty with 3 Hawks reaching by error, 9 Hawks worked walks, and another 9 players got on base the old fashion way, by a hit, with 4 of those dingers going for extra bases.

All but one Hawk was able to reach base via that litany of ways listed above.

Anderson was moved down from varsity to get some action and this young man would not disappoint while taking the pitching mound for real game action.

Even tho the Hawks received 9 walks, walking was not their motif after they reached first base as stolen bases would reach 7 for this contest. Showing an all-around game as CL continues to impress.

A short drive to Wimberley for a 1:00pm start time for their next game this Thursday in a battle of the Devil’s Back-Bone.
