Lady Hawks Track Finish with a Strong 3rd Place Finish in Navarro Relays

Canyon Lake’s Lady Hawks finishes 3rd with their Varsity and Junior Varsity as this crew continues to improve as this season matures this time at the Navarro Leap Year Relays.

Amber Leach wants to reach new heights in the Pole-Vault.

“We are getting more girls performing better each week,” Head Girls Track Coach John Barthels said. “Still have plenty to work on, but most of all I am happy with the push our girls are making to get better.”

That certainly seems to be playing out for a team that continues to rack up some PR’s (Personal Bests) on the cinders.

Alyssa Stickland (21 points) continues to get wins in the 100 meter hurdles with her best for this season while Madison Churbe (15 points) continues to climb in the All-Time Hawk point totals.

A newbie on the scene is Freshman Maddie Pipkin who is starting to make some strides in the Hurdles as she finished 4th in the 100 m hurdles and 2nd for the grueling 300 meter hurdles.

CL can add Hannah Cortez to a 300 hurdle Sorority as all three ladies placed in this event giving The Lake 16 points.

For the Relays, Canyon Lake had their 4×200 garner a 1st Place finish breaking the 1:50 barrier early for this season with a 1:49.86. This event has Churbe, Strickland, Lainee Moses, and Riley Shear.

CL had three Hawks with a 2nd place in the field events: Landry Brown’s reached 5-0 in the high jump and Elssa Holman’s had a decent 32-10.50 in the triple jump and Amber Leach starts working on one of the tougher field events reaching the 8 foot mark, in the pole vault.

The Lake was paced with 33 points from Shelby Palmer as she placed in all 5 events she entered.

Autumn Westinghouse continued her strong season totaling 19 points while Madison Self (14) and Sophia Hamilton (10) finished the Hawks that had double digit scoring.
