Canyon Lake was victorious against Smithville for a game that was moved up a day in order to not take a chance of losing a game due rain on Tuesday.

             Let’s Go Hawks!!

The Hawks jumped out to a quick, 2-0 advantage when the Tiger’s pitcher walked the first 3 CL players who would score on a Brandon Robinson single. Those 3 base on balls would be the last issued to The Lake for the rest of this contest.

“Our pitching and defense will keep us in games until our sticks come around,” Head Coach Victor Escamilla said. “The boys are working hard and a bit frustrated but that’s part of the deal. We will find ways to get where we need to be. We had a couple players get a start and that is what non-district is about. We are looking forward to this weekend in Medina Valley.”

Tyler Pauly continued his dominance on the mound with 5 shut out innings and retired for those last two innings with a 7-0 lead. Pauly has won his first 3 games and only allowed one run that was unearned.

That 5th inning would have CL scoring from Smithville errors as the home team ended this night with 6 miscues. While Canyon Lake was error free in this win.

Canyon Lake gave up 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning when Peyton McMullen could not find the strike zone and a triple by a Tiger did much of the damage in this inning.

Signature Homes says, Go Hawks!

Cale Claycomb would be called upon in the 7th and finished the game by striking out the side with two walks thrown in to make the game more interesting than needed.

The Hawks have started this year winning 5 of their first 6 contests which now has this team all alone with this being the best start in CL’s history.

Robinson finished the game with 3 runs batted after driving in his final run in that 5 run 5th inning that would be all the Hawks would need to seal this win and now look to another week-end of games in Medina Valley.

Go Hawks!!
