Hawks JV Tennis Beat San Marcos, 10-1 and Varsity Lost to Billies

Canyon Lake’s Tennis team lost to last year’s State Champion Fredericksburg and then CL’s JV squad took care of San Marcos, 10-1, as the Fall season comes to a close.

“If we had won against Fred then we would have made the bi-district round,” Head Coach Cory Mickey said. “With the addition of Davenport to our district, we had an extra team that beat us out of that last playoff spot.”

The Lake lost to the Billies, 10-2 which will go down as improvement from last year’s team.

Those two matches that were won came from Isabella Smith and Travis Parma in their #5 singles matches.

“Last year, we only won one match against them so this was an improvement for us,” Coach Mickey assessed. “The fall season was a great way for our players to compete, practice both singles and doubles and simply work on their games. The fall will go a long way in helping our players to compete better in tournament play in the spring. It also helps our beginners to get a jumpstart on learning the game so they’ll
be ready to play in some JV tournaments this spring.”

The Hawks continue to improve in this sport and that comes with practice and hard work.
