The Hawks continued their season with back-to-back wins after never trailing in a win over Marion on Tuesday night, 8-2.

This was CL;s 5th straight win that started last year during the Canyon Lake tournament.

Freedom Car Care says Go Hawks!

Tyler Pauly and Matthew McLain led the team with 2 hits a piece as Pauly will go into his next contest riding a 6 game hitting streak. This was McLain’s first start as a Hawk.

Hunter Anderson took the win after spreading 6 hits and striking out 6 Bulldogs while Pauly closed the doors on the Dogs with three innings of work for his first save.

Head Coach Victor Escamilla commented on the late addition to this game, “We lost games due to our district schedule being moved up one week. Marion posted an opening and they agreed to host us…our game two was better than our game one. We have 4 more games the remainder of the week as we hope to make steady progress from week to week.”

CL jumped out with 3 runs to start the game when Hunter Anderson helped his cause on the mound with the first hit with the bases loaded and Hawk lead. Those pads were loaded after a walk for Pauly followed with James LaLonde and Griffen Williams being hit by pitch.

“The game is divided into two parts,” Coach Escamilla said like a teacher. “The mental and the physical. The physical part is obvious during a game such as making routine plays. Our guys work hard on this part during the week. We had many mental blunders yesterday. They aren’t as evident to the fans. We will get better at this phase of our game as we find ways to improve.”

The Lake was able to get 3 runs by a sacrifice fly ball while being able to get a sacrifice and two bunt singles that helped minimize those error blunders mentioned by Coach Escamilla.

Canyon Lake will be back in action this Thursday when the Hawks meet the Burbank Bulldogs with a 3pm start.

The games will be played at the SAISD Sports Complex just south of downtown San Antonio. A win would pit CL against the SA Jay vs. SA Sam Houston winner on Friday.

Let’s Go Hawks!!
