Canyon Lake’s JV Volleyball Just Miss in Game with Wimberley, 2-0

Canyon Lake Hawk’s JV rolls up their sleeves in a set 2 overtime loss to the Texans.

The Hawks’ Junior Varsity was close to taking a set against the Texan’s JV when CL close a 5 point gap in a Wimberley lead, 23-18 to taking the lead, 25-24 before falling 27-25 in this nail-biter affair.

                        Go Far Hawks!!

On what was the impetus for the Ladies in that second set? “Defense and communication Coach Sami Theurer said. “We started playing the ball and playing for each other and our community.”

Canyon Lake’s Fall sports always seem to suffer when playing on Fair Day and that same ingredient was present in this loss as the Hawk Junior Varsity came out in that first set lethargic but that was transformed in that second set after coming back twice before falling in overtime.

“We need to start faster and just bring it all the time,” Coach Theurer exclaimed. “That is what I hope our team will take from this loss as we continue district.”

CL’s Josslyn Abel was one of the players that brought her ‘A’ game. The team was able to rally with new found energy which zoomed into that last lead.

Soph. Josslyn Abel is a big addition for Hawks Volleyball.

On starting slow in this game, “We had to wake up,” Habel stated in describing the first set. “We need more energy and that will help encourage us and start playing for each other.”

Abel is a transfer student from Davenport, “It wasn’t hard getting to know my teammates,” Abel said when asked how she has adjusted to the new surroundings. “I knew and had played with some of my teammates already but we have certainly improved from start to this game.”

Seeing improvement is what is the biggest measuring stick for Sub-Varsity teams and that is certainly a truism for this group of players.

“We will continue to play for each other and communicate,” Table closed like she started with hopes of finishing strong in district play.

Way to Go Hawks!!
