Canyon Lake Baseball Shuts-Out Legacy, 3-0

Canyon Lake’s pitching with Luke Roskin would prove all that was needed in the first home game and win over Southwest Legacy, 3-0.

Roskin and John Gulley combined on a 2 hitter when Gulley was called on to record the final out for his first save while Roskin struck out 11 and walked two in this victory.

After a weekend tourney in Sinton where the Hawks finished with a 2-2 record, Coach Victor Escamilla was wanting to see a better defense as he commented on how errors led that first loss to Taylor (4-3) last Thursday.

CL’s cut their errors down to one in this win that came about during that last inning hence the need for Gulley for this save. Gulley entered the contest with bases loaded and needing one out for a shut-out and win. Success came on a game ending grounder to short-stop Hayden Baker preserving this win.

The Lake’s hitting had a lot of infield singles with the only extra base hit being a scorched triple off the bat of Hunter Anderson that almost led to an inside the park homer.

Canyon Lake has one thing in common with these 3 wins ….all 3 were shut-outs.

Now, continuing a work in progress for the gloves and bats will hopefully be in full display when the Hawks go to San Antonio for this week-end’s tournament that starts Thursday at 1:00pm against El Paso Franklin and then the night cap against this same ball-club at 3:00pm.
