Canyon Lake Baseball loss to Fredericksburg, 8-3 has the Billies winning the series as the Hawks will try to salvage a win this coming Friday at the Hawk Nest.

                         Let’s Go Hawks!!

The Lake jumped to a 2-0 lead with a Hunter Anderson double driving in Chase Anderson and Brayden Welch’s single scoring Hunter.

Then a Hawk defense that kept that lead in check after ending the bottom of that frame with one of their 3 double plays on this night.

But that was as good as it would get as the Billies responded in the next two innings scoring 5 runs which would be enough for their 2nd win in this 3 game series as Canyon Lake could only muster one more run when Hayden Baker doubled and scored later during that inning.

The Hawks had 6 hits and 6 walks but squandered many of those opportunities with strikeouts (9) and base running miscues leading to this loss.

                        GO HAWKS!!

Pitching was no help as the Billies, middle part of their batting order, were able reach base 9 out of 9 times with two outs via a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly.

Not counting that one game outburst against Wimberley, The Lake, has not been able to sustain rallies in order to mount an offense and without those 3 double plays this night could have been much worse.

Defense was superb but those other two variables in this equation produced a square root which will many times result in a loss.

Canyon Lake still has a lot of games remaining but seeing a team with all spark plugs firing will need to be more consistent to reach two goals…(1) making the post-season….(2) preferably as a 2nd seed.

Let’s Go Hawks!
