This week’s District 27-4A Baseball Standings has some separation after those 3 games played due to weather last week.

Of course, Canyon Lake’s 2-1 result was a good showing considering that one loss was to the #1 Boerne team that ranks 4th in the State.

The Greyhounds will take on two of the teams fighting for a good seeding for the post-season. Davenport will have first dibs with Boerne who defeated the Wolves, 11-1 in there first game a couple of weeks ago.

Davenport and Wimberley will need to a win for a chance in reaching that coveted 2nd seed. That Davy & Wimbo series went to Davenport and that result will have the Texans fighting for a sweep this week to even out those tie-breaker scenarios that might come calling after these next two weeks’ of battles finish out.

CL had that terrible start to district losing their first 3 games but sweeping Davenport and getting a win over Boerne has your Hawks in a place where a split this week against Wimberley, increasing CL’s chance for that 2nd seed.

Of course, that can change if Davenport or Wimberley pulled off a victory playing Boerne.

Canyon Lake last beat Wimberley at their home field on April 2nd 2010 (4-1 win) and have not pulled off a go home smiling game at their new place since.

Travis Walker had a double and Cody Breest gave up 3 hits as this player was top dog on the mound for CL (during those days) until these recent year’s of Hawk pitchers that has surpassed Breest’s achievements.

Walker can share stories on how bad that playing field was and how the Texans used candles to light their field.

Still a lot on the line as that first round of district teams (District 28-4A) have a 3 way tie for first place.

La Vernia-Navarro-SA Kennedy all share a 4-2 record.

Hopefully a Hawk win can make a lucky number 13 years of losing in their rear view mirror.

Just don’t use that mirror when traversing the Devil’s Back-Bone!!

Go HAWKS!!
