CL Hawks shut down a Rocket for the 2nd consecutive game when Luke Roskin and Griffen Williams combined on a 4 hit no run win over SA Kennedy Rockets.

                    Way to Go Hawks!!

Head Coach Victor Escamilla stated, “Our pitching has been on point lately but we still need more production from the bottom of the lineup for us to be successful.”

During this win or go home part of the season…each round of the playoffs will have teams coming that will be better than that last series and Coach Escamilla’s admonishment will be paramount in the coming weeks.

These Rockets had been above the clouds all season scoring runs in every game right up to 6 runs per outing. Now Kennedy will end this year going scoreless on 14 straight innings.

The Williams’ Brothers (Griffen & Carter) left souvenirs over the left field fence that highlighted this battle and then a leave no prisoners 5 run 6th inning ended any intrigue on which team would be suiting up against the Columbia/Bellville winner next week.

Griffen has 12 home-runs for this season and 27 for his Hawk career and ‘Little Brother’ (sarcasm) now has 7 this season which is one more than Griffen totaled during his sophomore campaign.

The Lake has had 6 games without recording an error and this was the first time that feat has happened in back-to-back contests.

      Keep getting Long-Hits Hawks!!

The Rockets were able to reach 3rd base for three different innings and CL was able to finished each frame without any damage.

One was with the bases loaded in the top of the 4th inning that had a double sandwiched between two walks but Roskin got 2 strikeouts and a fly out to end that potential game changing moment.

Starting that final inning Roskin gave up two singles to start but Griffen Williams started his relief job by inducing a 6-4-3 double play (19th double play this season…which is an all-time best for the Hawk Annals) and then a great play by short stop Hayden Baker.

Baker got to this ground ball behind 2nd base and rifled his throw to first ending a chance for a score and giving the Hawks another round of playoff excitement.

NEXT! GO HAWKS!

The Hawks outfield continues to have an exceptional season and on this night it was left-fielder Hunter Anderson making a diving catch taking a hit away from a desperate Kennedy team.

Defense-Pitching-Offense was on display and that proof had an, 8-0 result!!

Columbia and Bellville’s first two games were one run affairs which shows that these two schools are evenly matched for a rubber match this Saturday.

Stay tuned to The ReSporter for a pre-game and other notes as this Area Round commences next week.

Way to GO HAWKS!!
