Canyon Lake finished surfing their Senior Class of 2023 to the shore after another successful baseball season where the Hawks finished this year during the Area Playoff round.

                   Great Season Hawks!!

This Senior Class finished with a 74-27-1 record and starting their sophomore year finished 1st-2nd-2nd during those 3 seasons in district play.

Griffen Williams obliterated several records staring with an obscured stat that highlights how opposing pitchers and teams feared his at bats.

Griffen will have the all-time record, for a long time, with Intention Walks accumulating in the teens. that were awarded based on finishing with 42 rbi’s and sending 12 balls over the fence for this season.

Griffen finished with a .405 batting average and his slugging percentage was .905 and being walked countless times had this young man leading the team by reaching base with a percentage of .565.

Hit Man can Pitch Too!!  Way to GO HAWKS and Congrats.

Griffen also was a decent at first base and pitcher finishing the year with a .955 fielding percentage.

Those numbers translate to those coveted 3 letters > MVP!!

Hunter Anderson made the 1st team as a pitcher but when this player was not pitching he fielded in the outfield or first base based on CL’s pitcher for those particular games.

Hunter finished the season leading CL with 9 wins and was 6-1 against district opponents.

Way to make Us Proud HAWKS!!

At the plate Hunter recorded a .410 average that led the team and also had CL 10 steals and a slew of infield hits taking advantage of that speed.

Chase Anderson was the third Hawk to make the 1st team and his accomplishments were behind the plate as this player had a .431 batting average in district play and defensively threw out 15 batters with 7 of those coming against district teams. Chase finished the season throwing out 34% of potential base stealers.

Chase did not strikeout once during the district slate of games and that speaks volumes for a contact hitter and his on base percentage was a balmy .547 in those 15 contests.

Newcomer Award winner, Carter Williams, could have easily been chosen as a first teamer at 3rd base and his bat was just as lethal as his glove taking away many hits from the hot-box. Carter finished with a .935 district fielding percentage.

Carter’s bat produced 6 home-runs tying Griffen’s total and he had 20 rbis which was 2nd to Griffen’s 24 during district play.

Luke Roskin was 2nd team all-district as a pitcher as he finished with 3 wins and a save for his work on the mound.

Travis Parma had been a defensive player only but as the season progressed was a spark-plug from the 9 hole and finished the season batting .250 and led the team with 5 sacrifice bunts that completed his senior season.

Stay tuned for one final baseball article and congrats to these 5 Hawk players.

Way to GO HAWKS!!
