The Canyon Lake Dries Up in Loss to Taylor, 66-28.
Canyon Lake continued their slide this season against the Taylor Ducks who scored 66 points in giving up 456 passing yardage which passed (pardon the pun) of the previous record in last week’s contest against Burnet (353 yards).
On this night, The Lake was dry after a combination of losing a bus load of Seniors combined with injuries, out the wazoo, will now have a team not playing in the post-season for the first time in 10 years.
These Ducks were also able to gain more yardage on the ground than CL’s slot-t offense after having to abandon their ground attack to a passing game due to needing to air it out for a chance getting a comeback.
But seeing a kick-off returned for touchdown by Taylor helped put this contest in survival mode during the 2nd Half.
QB Steven Crowder passed for 257 yards using Harris Gilliam’s 108 receiving yards & 63 yard scoring strike and Caden Rodriguez’s 91 receiving yards with 69 of that real estate for a scoring strike. Those players helped, The Lake, being able to keep this game within striking distance before the flood gates opened up for Taylor.
Canyon Lake will now finish their season against Lampasas Friday on Senior Night this Friday.
