Softball Outlook for last two Games

One thing we know about the District 26-3A Softball race, is that

Senior Pitcher Missy Romero

Senior Pitcher Missy Romero

Boerne will finish last.

Now the fun stuff starts as the season comes down to the last two games this week.

The ReSporter would like to go over some prognostication for this week’s games.

First thing first….whoever is playing Boerne is going to win that game this week. So, with that being a given, we will give Wimberley and Fredericksburg a win right off the bat (pardon the pun).

That will leave Canyon Lake in another must win situation over Fredericksburg for this Tuesday game. Yes, the Hawks could lose and still make it, but a win would certainly get the cement mixers going for placing this team in the playoffs.

The Hawks could lose to Fredericksburg and still make the playoffs, but the door would not be as wide open.

The following would need to happen to get in with a loss to the Billies:

Fredericksburg (6-3) beats Canyon Lake(5-4).
Wimberley (6-3) will beat Boerne.
Bandera (7-2) beats or loses to Navarro. It would not matter.

The Friday game would need to finish like this:

Canyon Lake (6-4) would need to beat Navarro.
Bandera (8-2) beats Wimberley (6-4).
Fredericksburg (7-3) would beat Boerne.

That would still leave Canyon Lake with a playoff game against Wimberley with the winner making the playoffs in third place in district.

If Canyon Lake beat Fredericksburg and got beat by Navarro in the final game the results would probably look like this:

Canyon Lake (6-3) would have to beat Fredericksburg (5-4)
Wimberley (6-3) beats Boerne
Bandera (6-3 or 7-2) wins/ loses to Navarro

If the Friday game would finished like this:

Navarro beats Canyon Lake (6-4)
Fredericksburg (6-4) beats Boerne
Wimberley wins/loses to Bandera

This ending would give Canyon Lake a tie for third place with the Billies, since the Hawks beat Fredericksburg twice during district play. Wimberley and Bandera would finish ahead of the Hawks more than likely.

If Canyon Lake tied Wimberley with a 6-4 record, Fredericksburg would be out based on the Hawk two wins over Fredericksburg.

First set: District Record
Canyon Lake beats Billies 6-3 and 5-4
Bandera beats Navarro 7-2 and 3-6
Wimberley beats Boerne 6-3 and 0-9

Navarro beats Canyon Lake 4-6 and 6-4
Wimberley beats Bandera 7-3 and 7-3
Billies beat Boerne 6-4 and 0-10

To recap both games this week:
Win and the Hawks could finish first or second
Finish 1-1, then the Hawks need some help, but playoffs are still possible.
Lose two and the Hawks will be out based on the Billies and Texans having an easy win over Boerne.

The prognosticators would have to say that Bandera will be favored over Wimberley playing them at home.

So Wimberley ends with a 6-4 record…..60% *playing Bandera on the road
Boerne ends with a 0-10 record………..100% *have been out scored by average of 10 runs per game.
Canyon Lake finishes with a 7-3 record…30% *on a row and have a snake bitten Fredericksburg
Fredericksburg finishes with 7-3 record…70% *playing Hawks at home and easy win over Boerne
Canyon Lake finishes with 6-4 record……70% *playing Billies on road and payback game against Navarro
Bandera finishes with a 8-2 record……….80% *both games at home and one of the best pitchers in the circle

Navarro and Boerne are out of the race based on Boerne losing their last two games.

The other four teams are fighting for three spots to continue their season.

Are you having ‘fun’ yet? This knot will be much easier to untie after the games this Tuesday. Hopefully the Hawks will sport a three game winning streak over the Billies and drive a nail into their season.

Good Luck Hawks!!!
