Baseball: Hawks even District Record Beat Navarro, 5-2

The Canyon Lake Hawks beat Navarro Panthers last Tuesday night to put themselves in the hunt for a good district run.

Zach Jenkins continues to pitch well as he has the two wins in District play.

The Hawks gave Jenkins some breathing room jumping out to a four run lead before he had to take the mound.

Canyon Lake had three extra base hits in the first inning. Daulton Winters tripled, followed with a double from Brandon Felts, and then Kyler Huff sending the ball over the fence with his at bat.

Jenkins settled in pitching a complete game while striking out seven Panthers and walking only two. The defense pitched in with no errors to speed the game along.

“We had no errors and a clean defense,” Head Coach Trent Dunavant said. “Zach (Jenkins) is a fast worker on the mound and that plays to our good defense.”

The Hawks will now prepare for Boerne this Friday. A win will set the team up for a chance to improve for the second round in District play.
