A lot has changed in the past year in the football world. Fredericksburg only needs one more win to match their win total the past three years. Night and Day could be another way of putting the difference between the past and now for the Billies.

Meanwhile, Canyon Lake has, ‘fallen and can’t get up’, so far this season.

Take a few game moments away and this Hawk team could also be 4-1 instead of 1-4. La Grange was the first team that did anything they wanted in their game with CL.

There was a chance that the Hawks could of easily been held scoreless in that game and the defense was abused by La Grange.

Canyon Lake has proven that they don’t like water.

Schedule wise for Fredericksburg, the Llano and Burnet teams could be their best bench mark games. You also have a common opponent in Burnet where both teams were on the losing end of the tally.

Llano would be 1-3 in District 27-3A with the Yellowjackets playing four teams from CL’s district.

Llano 26 Texans 27 First game jitters for Wimberley, and Llano can play.
Llano 39 Bandera 26 Bandera was Llano's only win.
Llano 27 Boerne 35 Boerne matched Fredericksburg with an eight point win.
Llano 06 Billies 14 Proved they have a decent defense in this game.

Doing the simple numbers game you can see how evenly matched Fredericksburg will be against our district with only Canyon Lake and Navarro as teams that have not played Llano.

Another way of knowing a little more about this Billie team is checking out the record for the five teams they have played.

Fredericksburg’s opponents have a 5-20 record so far this season, which on the surface will not have a lot of parades being planned with that as a banner.

Canyon Lake will be playing a team that has changed how they attack a game offensively. Fredericksburg has been a running team for the past four years in their games with the Hawks.

This year the Billies have passed 35% of the time which is a totally different type of team Canyon Lake has played in the past. In fact, Fredericksburg has passed 164 yards per game this season.

Kyle Grona is their quarterback and has passed for five touchdowns as well has 211 yards rushing.

Grona’s favorite target will be Kim Ross-Bacthge who has 13 receptions for 283 yards. Two other receivers, Matthew McManigle and Joaquin Rivera have 226 and 155 yards respectfully this year.

Paco Martinez is the leading rusher with 322 yards on the ground on 73 carries. Rivera also has run for 175 yards and is third place with the Billies.

Plenty of weapons for this Billies team as they come into this game. Plus, with a four game winning streak along with playing at home will give more hurdles needed to be jumped for Canyon Lake.

To put this all in perspective again, this four game winning streak is one game short of the number of wins in the past three years.

Canyon Lake comes into this game after a spanking at the hands of the Leopards two weeks ago.

The off week will help with the sick and injured players for the Hawks.

Running Back Eduardo Covarrubias will return this week which will help in the running game.

Canyon Lake regressed in their passing two weeks ago which would be expected after a 300 yard game, but having nine yards in the La Grange game was more regression than anyone would of thought.

It was apparent that this Hawk team had a hard time flying in the rain two weeks ago.

A new season with the start of district play and now we will hope to see a team that needs to put their ‘A’ game together and this is the time to get it done.

The Hawks have proven they can run and pass for yardage, can they accomplish this feat at the same time?

Canyon Lake has to renew their effort in having a good all around game which has not happened for any game this year.

Offense, defense, and special teams need to suit up for district play and here is hoping the cleaners have all the jerseys ready.

Afterall two weeks should give you enough time to work out these kinks.
