BCS gets Water Insurance in Win over CASA, 53-0

Bracken Christian got insurance for water at their CASA that helped them cruise to a 53-0 win in San Antonio last Friday night.

Once again, BCS scored on every possession during this water logged football field.

The Warriors have now scored on 17 consecutive drives in their last three games. The last drive BCS had that did not score was an interception in the fourth quarter of the Gustine game.

Actually, Bracken did not score with over two minutes left in this game Friday night because the Warriors took a knee to run out the clock.

BCS had no drive that took over four plays. Two drives that took four plays, two drives taking three plays, one drive with two plays, and three one play drives.

On those three one play drives, BCS had 128 yards or over half of their total number of yards for this game.

Bracken also played their first game without trying for the ‘Bonus’ point. “I would still like to have a 75% success rate with the point after,” Head Coach Lloyd Fields said.

Once again, Eli Achilles helped orchestrate this game with 173 yards rushing. Achilles can move into third place on rushing yards for a season passing Grady Achilles last seasons rushing totals.

Eli Achilles should also pass his brothers TD totals this season for two of his years, but Grady Achilles 62 touchdowns scored two years ago still looks to be in good shape.

Davis Scott also had the third longest pass reception for the Warriors on his one play drive that covered 63 yards.

Preston Koch touched the ball three times and was successful two of those times adding to his Bracken point total.

Two players that helped by volunteering for Bracken after injuries depleted the roster a month ago continue to have more touches helping Bracken’s numbers.

Connor Simmons scored on one of his two carries, while Mason Anthony keeps surprising coaches with his quickness and the fun he has in helping the Warriors.

Bracken’s defense also came to play while holding their first opponent without advancing on a first down for a game.

This contest was controlled by stopping the run and pass for CASA’s offense.

Water was seen splashing as players made their way making their respective plays.

The CASA certainly had some water problems and that insurance policy with Banse State Farm certainly came in handy for Bracken as this defense was a shut down unit and prevented any more leaks.

“We believe run every play in practice every day,” Coach Fields commented when asked a question about how they plan for field conditions like this wet field. “The players become astute with the plays and can run our offense in any weather.”

Seven completions for CASA only resulted in 26 yards or less than four yards per reception.

Add their less than one yard per rushing play and you get the idea of how dominant this unit was for this game.

With water being all over the field, this turned out to be a ‘clean’ game as this game also had only one penalty committed for both teams.

Only one turnover, an interception for Achilles, and everyone was home well before the cold front took over.

Next week, BCS will be traveling to Houston to play Emery-Weiner on Saturday.

Next home game will come that next week, when the Warriors will conclude this regular season when they meet Kerrville OLH.
