Canyon Lake almost beat Luling using just their third inning by scoring 10 runs to break this game open
early, 12-2.
Luling would not quit and finished the game outscoring the Hawks 9-4 with some troubling errors that kept this from becoming a shorter affair.
“We had two starters, (McKenna) Beseda and (Vicky) Henderson go out with injuries and had to sub, thus causing some errors,” Head Coach John Gallagher said. “We hit very well until the fifth inning, we also pitched and played solid ‘D’ up to that point.”
With Alexis Robinson striking out 12 batters, then that will tell you that CL did not have to field 12 balls during this game. Having 7 errors tells you CL had a high percentage of miscues that will certainly need to be rectified before District schedule gets going.
Briana Young hit CL’s second home run that actually went over a fence in this game and finished with 6 rbi’s leading the Hawks with a double as well. Young’s home run cleared the left field fence approximately 210 feet with a a runner on.
Lilimae Daily also had a double as she continues to show off a whole different mind set at the plate in comparison from her previous years.
Freshman Alexis Robinson also continues to shine with the bat with a double and single in this game.
This win did stop that nasty two game losing streak and now CL will play several games this weekend at the Blanco Tournament.
