Mountain Valley Middle School.

This game went 4:39 seconds before the first point was scored by the Hawks as Jenna Lann made her free throw and it would be a lead that was never relinquished.

Scoring points was as difficult as visiting your dentist in having several teeth to be pulled.

Free throws was certainly not a good term to use, in this game, a made free throw would be viewed as gold.

CL was a cool 2 for 10 from the charity stripe while Sarah Schneider scoring the first bucket with 2:36 left in the first quarter and a 3-0 lead.

Cedar Creek scored their first point with 0:24 seconds left the that first stanza.

After the lid was taken off the rim, the game seemed to open up a tad more as Canyon Lake responded with a 12 point second quarter to increase their lead to six points going into halftime.

The Hawks had opened a 12 point lead in the fourth quarter as Cedar Creek went on a five minute scoring drought while the Hawks increased their lead.

From that point on, the Eagles scored 10 unanswered points to pull within two points with 3:50 left in the game.

The Hawks were able to hold on when Bailey Drum stole the ball and dribbled the court for a layup and five point lead with two minutes remaining.

With Amber Ramsey out for this game, Emily Muniz was pivotal in getting five rebounds as del as scoring six points being her best showing this year.

Kyndall Drum also took up the slack from Ramsey’s absence with 10 rebounds and leading the Hawks with 7 points on this night.

The Hawks will be in action again when they play in the Lutheran Tournament against Luling next Tuesday night.

Canyon Lake’s Junior Varsity was also in action and ran away from the CCJV Eagles, 44-24.

That score made this game seem closer than it actually was, as the Hawks rushed for a 26-4 halftime lead and were never threatened on this night.

“We are finally starting to mesh together,” Junior Varsity Coach Jimmy Chamberlain stated. “We have had three good games and I know this team will be good based on their 18-4 record as freshman last season. This is a fun group to coach.”

This team has many players that were on that Freshman team last year that had a stellar season and seem to be poised to have another good campaign.

Canyon Lake has two players that were on that freshman team last year playing Varsity this season.

Lexy Jackson and Sydney Johnson both finished with 12 points leading the Hawks in scoring.

“Our team is getting better,” Jackson said. “We are getting used to each other and are getting to know each other and how each one of us play.”

That was apparent in this contest as crisp passes and finding the open lady was performed like surgeons in an operating room. Smooth…

Cedar Creek was certainly outclassed while the Hawks coasted to a much deserved win.
