This Week @ Canyon Lake
What a wild week at The Lake.
First off, Girl’s Soccer: The game with Wimberley last Tuesday was a great contest.
With so many ebbs and flows and a final outcome that could not have been scripted in hollywood.
That win has Canyon Lake in the driver’s seat for a chance to make it two years in a row of playing in the playoffs. The Hawks will play this coming Friday against Seguin a team CL beat 7-0 earlier this year.
Another win and one stop closer.
Baseball had two very rare happenings this past week.
1. Being down 14-7 with two outs and one runner on first base in what would be your last inning is not a good place to be in sports.
Canyon Lake responded with 8 runs and a win over Austin Akins at home in the Comal ISD Tournament.
2. Topping that off with a game with Burnet the next day. Yes, the game ended in a tie, but having a triple-play is something that is not seen very often, in fact, since the year 2000, there have been just 35 triple plays in major league baseball.
The Hawk baseball team will open their District 27-3A schedule at home this Tuesday and who knows what you might see.
The Hawk Softball team also pulled off winning the Blanco Tournament on Saturday by sweeping Llano and host Blanco for the championship.
This team will have an abbreviated schedule as Spring Break looms and another road game this Monday against a strong Hyde Park club in Austin.
The boys and girls golf team will be in Wimberley this week and this is another Hawk team with a lot of potential. So far, the boys have been finishing in the middle of the pack, but with a couple more players that can match or get closer to Skyler Tschoepe scores, then a chance of making some noise might be good. (especially during the back swing)
Hawk Tennis will be hosting a Tournament this Friday.
Track and Field will be taking their act to Hays on Friday this week. So far, CL has had a Meet on Saturday and Thursday….so why not try out a Friday.
The Hawk Girls are looking good and when a couple of injured athletes get their cleats back, then some good things might be in store.
Canyon Lake’s Junior Varsity won the Blanco Meet last week as well as Mountain Valley Middle School
There should be some good teams coming up from those middle school students.
Canyon Lake will be sparse next week as Spring Break will be upon the area, but Baseball and a few other sports will still give you something to enjoy during those days.
The ReSporter will be Skiing in Colorado, but articles will still be keeping you appraised of those teams that are in action that week.
Thanks for reading.
