The Hawks started the game with a methodical 48 yard drive taking five minutes off the clock and forging to a 8-0 early lead.

This drive was highlighted by a Nick Rivera 26 yard run which set up MV 7A squad on Lago Vista’s 2 yard line.

From there Nelson Madera would score both a touchdown and the extra point run.

The Vikings were not threatening Mountain Valley’s defense as they could only accumulate 13 yards of offense for this game.

In that first half Rivera was a hard luck player as this athlete returned a punt and interception for a touchdown, and both were called back by a penalty.

The punt return happened first when Rivera would run through the Viking players like a pin ball for 51 yards.

Then moments later, Rivera would snag the only pass attempted by Lago Vista and again had a return called back by a block in the back.

The Vikings only first down in the first half was a result of two off sides penalties on Mountain Valley’s defensive line that was anticipating a snap count in order to wreak havoc on a Viking offensive line.

Meanwhile LV was not getting anything going offensively as they ran 19 plays for a grand total of 18 yards for their entire game.

The Hawks would have the ball two more times in the second half and scored on both possessions.

On that first drive, Rivera finally had a chance to score without a penalty as he darted 51 yards on just the second play of that drive. Rivera would finish with 98 yards rushing in this game.

“They were taking away our inside game and that allowed me to go to the outside and I am much faster going wide,” Rivera said. “We will try to fix our mistakes in practice before we play next week.”

Rivera was speaking of their big game against Liberty Hill being played at Hawk Field next Thursday.

“Thank-you and good job, Offensive Line,” Rivera said with great gratitude. “If I had some money I would buy you something.”

Based on how well this offensive line was helping Rivera run, he might need to take out a loan before his next game.

The Hawks would put this game away on their second and only drive of the second half with a 11 play drive that basically left no time on the clock for the Vikings to get back on their ship to Greenland.

Daniel Neel put the final foot prints on the Vikings running in from six yards out for a 22-0 final score.

Another impressive game for Mountain Valley with another dominant win to hang on their mantle.
