Mountain Valley’s 8B Team Hang Loss on the Billies, 14-6

Mountain Valley’s 8B team rushed out to a 14 point lead and held on for a win over Fredericksburg’s Middle School, 14-6.

That first MV drive was all it would take to get this win as the Hawks drove 67 yards and the eventual win when Nic Robinson scored from four yards out and put a cherry on this TD with a run for the two point conversion.

The next Mountain Valley drive was cut short after reaching the Billies’ 19 yard line and fumbling that chance away.

Fredericksburg’s first three drives would end with punts as the Hawks would score their two touchdowns for a 14-0 lead going into halftime.

Christian Rhoades had a great set of downs on that scoring drive with a nifty 46 yard run and then a nine yard run two plays later for that score.

Rhoades finished with 111 yards for the day while Nic Robison not only gained 41 yards and that first touchdown, but his blocks on those outside runs by Rhoades, just showed how much this player is not just a runner.

The Billies did have one run for 58 yards by Reyes and a score, but take that one run from the Billies total yards and this game would be all defense in the domination phase.

Just 33 yards of offense other than that one run and Mountain Valley’s control of the clock was the defense’s best friend.

Fredericksburg only had three drives in the second half and two holding penalties on the Billies was all it took to give Mountain Valley another victory.

Mountain Valley was all over the Billie Middle Schools as a dominating game from the 7th and 8th grade teams just put an exclamation point on this Thursday night of games.

Wyatt Meckel was one of many players that was nails on offense and defense in a game that was not close statistically but in scoring points it was quite the ‘nail’ biter.

“We are pretty good but we could have scored more,” Meckel said. “Since the games are starting to cost more to us then we will be able to find it. Oh Yeah, we will find it.”

Finding it will be coming the next two weeks and when Mountain Valley will get a double dose of facing Boerne each week.
