Lady Hawks SCORRRRREEEEDDDD!!!! In game with La Vernia, 8-0
Canyon Lake’s Lady Soccer team SSSSCOOOOORRRRREEEDDDD 8 goals in their win over La Vernia while shutting out the Bears in a non-district game Tuesday night at the Hawk Stadium.
The Hawks scored at will against this first year club and took no prisoners.
“We still have a long way to go,” Head Coach Ryan Tierney said. “We were firing on all cylinders, but what worries me is defense but we got our job done tonight.”
Senior Christy Fowler scored four of the goals in the win…in hockey a four goal game is called a Texas hat trick and being in Texas, Fowler was all smiles after this game.
“This was spectacular,” Fowler scored. “This year our team is very strong and we are playing as a team.”
Canyon Lake played their entire game playing offense and with the game getting out of hand scoring wise, CL had an opportunity of practicing on other parts of their game.
“We worked on our passing and accuracy,” Fowler said. “We also could work on dribbling while looking up….we switched up our formation from a 4-1 to a 4-3-3 and we know we will have to count on our defense with our 4-1-4 formation to help put more pressure on our opponents offense.”
Brandi Schimonsky scored the first goal in this contest which would be all CL (3-2) would need in chalking up another win this season.
“We had a good game,” Schimonsky calculated. “Our team did well and everyone got to work on their skills.”
Another Hawk team that is filled with some talented underclassman as Freshman Schimonsky and Alexa Ramos both scored in this game.
“I can trust on my teammates and their skills,” Schimonsky continued. “I want to be able to score and we can rely on our defense so we don’t lose goals.”
Canyon Lake has scored 21 goals in their three wins and that total had 23 goals two years ago total during their season and 27 last year.
The ReSporter thinks there might be a good chance this Hawk team might lap past CL teams with the fire power displayed so far this year.
The Hawks, will be playing teams in the same classification for the first time and that will certainly help when district starts on February 3rd against Boerne at home.
This year's District 28-4A teams:
Boerne 5-0
Wimberley 3-0
Fredericksburg 5-2
CL Hawks 3-2
Bandera 0-1
Canyon Lake will play each district opponent three times giving each team a lot of chances to understand what will be brought to the stadium when that final round commences.
