Aubrey Long pitched a No-No & added a CenterField Homer for extra sauce! Go Lake!

Pitcher Aubrey Long in earlier game this season.
The Canyon Lake Hawk’s Softball started their Blanco Tournament with dominating pitching while combining these two games garnering 23 hits…pretty good balance for an extraordinary evening.
Aubrey Long had a decent night in the circle after pitching a No-Hitter in CL’s first game against Natalia who were not able to get any traction with many of the Hawk faithful getting some nice wind fans from all of the Mustangs missed pitches.
In fact, Long did not reach 3 balls in the count and struck out 10 Mustangs in this dominant outing.
“I had not been given many innings so I really have not had time to build everything,” Long said when asked bout her time in the circle.
‘Hit’ it LONG then commented on her home run, “The umpire came to the circle and said I had 8 minutes unless you can get out of this (inning) quick…so I said I need to hit because I was the first one up (next in the lineup) and I had been really bad so I was going to step back and wait on it (the pitch) because all of her pitches had been outside and low and I felt like she was going to give me one…and I knew it was gone.”
Gone it was as the center fielder just watched the ball sail over her past the outfield fence. There were reports that the air traffic control in San Antonio had seen a UFO blip on their screen durning that same time.

Be Authentic with your Hawk Gear & GO LAKE SOFTBALL
Still some pesky Hawk errors but as a whole, on this night, The Lake’s Softball team was in a zone in every facet of this game resulting in two dominating victories.
The Hawks will continue their Blanco Tourney on Friday & Saturday with hopes of spotting more UFO’s (Unbelievable~Fluid~Offense)…

Hawks gather after opening day spanking of Devine, 11-0. Go Lake!
Canyon Lake came out of their chute with some degree of authority by amassing 13 hits (3 doubles) and in that 1st inning leaving the bases loaded. It was a spanking with their only blemish coming in the field with two miscues and leaving the bases loaded with-out a run scored.

Canyon Lake’s Boys Basketball will be in action this Tuesday with play-by-play coming from Chad Parma & LJ Anderson.
This is The Lake’s first Basketball playoff since a 3 year (2017-18-19) stint which has also been the only invites this sport has garnered.
A hard earned award as this Hawk Team has played several tough opponents as well as finishing 3rd in District 26-4A play.
This Broadcast will air 10 minutes before the 6:30pm tip-off coming to you from Canyon High School in New Braunfels.
The Hawks finished the season with 3 impressive games and will look to continue their run against a Lago Vista team that finished tied for first with Austin LBJ.
Should be a barn burner and hoping for a Lake Win!

The ReSporter was able to catch up with Head Girls Soccer Coach Kara Stracener after tying a top 10 team, Wimberley which will be a great momentum builder as well helping solidify another chance of making the playoffs.
The Lake’s Lady Soccer team presently has the longest running playoff streak compared to Blake’s other team sports. These Texan’s are averaging 4 goals per outing which gives an idea of how well this Hawk team is starting to jell.

Hit Man way to get rid of Pests Hawks!
“Our girls are undefeated so far in district and continue to improve each game,” Coach Stracener started. “We are 8-3-3 on the season and had a 2nd place finish in our first tournament of the season.”
Canyon Lake has strung together some impressive outings, “We had a big win against 6A Canyon High School right before we started district and just tied Wimberley who is a top ranked team in 4A soccer in the region,” Stracener blushed.
“We knew that Wimberley was going to be a tough game as they had just come off of a win against Davenport, one of the top ranked teams in the area. As far as our game plan, we had 3 things we were focusing on going into the Wimberley game.”

Make a Deposit & Go Hawks!!
“The girls executed the plan very well. They did really well with 2 out of the 3. We struggled on the offensive side of things because Wimberley has a strong defense and put pressure on us much more quickly than any team we’ve seen this year. I am very pleased with how the girls battled and frustrated Wimberley,” Coach Stracener said realizing that the Texan’s have given up just 5 goals this season out of 15 contests. “We played great team defense and outworked a very good team.”
Things don’t get any easier as this district is always tough and represents good outings during the post-season.
“We will continue to build on the momentum from the positive outcome from last Friday going into this week where we finish up the first round of district against two more solid teams, Marble Falls Tuesday at home and Friday away at Davenport.”
Coach Stracener shared bout this year’s offense, “Girls with top offensive stats are Savanna Oberholtzer with 21 goals so far on the season. Then Rya Clark and Kylee Morrow, 2nd and 3rd in goals scored for the team.”
Canyon Lake is still a young outfit and look to raise the bar as this season continues to mature.
“Our 3 seniors on the team, make up 3 out of the 4 defenders in the back. Their experience and leadership has been outstanding for the team this year and kept us in some tough games. Sophomore goal keeper, Callie Dominguez (was a defender for us last year), has stepped up and made some great saves and continues to improve,” Starcener closed with hopes of keeping this district slate in good shape.
