The Hawk Girl’s Soccer continues to have a strong season as they turned the tables on La Vernia with a, 1-0 victory on Tuesday night, reversing that same score LV scored against Canyon Lake earlier this season.
“For our team to get a win against a team we previously lost to, pretty much evens the score,” Head Coach Ryan Tierney commented. “In my eyes the scores are just settled, what I took away from this game was how we won.”
CL’s defense has been guarding the net like Trump wants to guard the border as no Hawk opponent has scored more than one goal in any game up to this point of the schedule.

Megan Browning
The ReSporter has learned that the Hawk Family has lost a beautiful young lady and wanted the community to know of a memorial service for Megan Browning this Saturday, will be held, at Canyon Lake High School.
Megan was an all around sport athlete as there was not a sport she did not participate in.
She led the Hawks in Assists in her Senior Year for Volleyball and was part of the first ever Hawk Sport Team to qualify for the Playoffs in CL’s second year of competition.
When Volleyball was over there would have no moss growing around Megan as she would be an active participant for the Hawk’s Basketball squad next.

The Canyon Lake Classic Boy’s Soccer Tournament ended with the Hawks taking a nail-biter loss, 2-1 on Saturday at the Hawk Nest.

Grayson Rohrbacher after three wins in CL Tourney
“There was a lot of good stuff that came out of this tournament,” Head Coach Warren Graham started. “We got a lot of experience as a result of this game. This will prepare us for district and we are looking forward to it.”
Bandera only took one minute to take their first lead of this game as CL looked dazed in starting this Championship match.
The Bulldogs are also in the same District as the Hawks and have just one loss this season finishing as top bullDog in the tournament with a 7-1 record.
CL did well after winning their first 3 games as Brayden Damico did not allow a goal those first 3 contests.

Go Hawks and Fly High!!
The Lady Hawks will have a tough climb to reach the playoff podium after a hard fought loss to Bandera last Friday night, 50-39.
The ReSporter has commented on how tough District 28-4A is and Bandera took care of a Hondo Owl team in their first district game that made a statement that the Bulldogs would not be an easy foe on your schedule either.

CL Hawks JV win 10th game in a row over Bandera as the Lake’s Defense took center stage in grinding out this win, 33-26.
“We did not hit our shots,” Head JV Coach Hooper said. “We grinded out a win and sometimes it is not pretty but we will take it.”
Spoken like a Dad of the 7 ugly ducklings while trying to put make-up on those Hawks.

Rory Preiss has 8th straight game with double digit scoring
Canyon Lake beat Bandera and now enjoys a 2-1 District 28-4A record as they wait for a State Ranked Boerne team on next Friday.
The Hawks did not look sharp in this win but there were times not to long ago that CL’s basketball team would have taken any type of victory in district play.
“We played with great effort and energy,” Head Coach Lucas Chapman said. “Our defense was ok but we had too many turnovers and too many missed shots.”
But a win is a win and that will have to suffice even when the team is not playing at their peak level.
With these two district wins, Canyon Lake has already tied or beaten 5 other Hawk years in Basketball lore for victories in district play.
This conquest tied last year’s total and the next win, Canyon Lake, will be tied with the all-time best win total in Hawk history at 14. The 2008-09 Hawk team stood with that total in the Hawks 2nd year of play.

Basketball Coach Lucas Chapman
The ReSporter: How do you find that magic potion in getting consistency from your players?
Coach Chapman: “We just have to continue to talk about it and emphasize it. It’s about trying to do all the little things each and everyday. Those little things make the big things happen. If you don’t do a good job of taking care of the little things, then the wins and successes don’t come. We just have to stay with the process.”
The ReSporter: This group of Seniors will have a chance of being the first to have a chance to make the playoffs, what has separated this group from the past teams?

Head Girl’s Basketball Coach Zach Burleson
The ReSporter: First off, Coach…has this district panned out as expected in how strong the teams are?
Coach Burleson: “Yeah, we knew going in it would be tough. Not only are there no nights off, there are no quarters off. Meaning, 1 bad quarter will cost you the game. That’s what we are up against.”
The ReSporter: What can you take away from the loss to Fredericksburg on Tuesday based on your earlier loss and how this game finished?
Coach Burleson: “It was our best effort in a month. Win or lose, I am very proud of our effort. I felt our 1st half was great meaning that our intensity level was where it’s needs to be. We gave ourselves a chance, just were not able to score enough tonight. But, if we can match that intensity that we displayed, it will give us opportunities to knock somebody off.”

Caimen McDonough is surrounded by Orange in earlier game this season.
Canyon Lake fell flat in loss to Fredericksburg, 56-34, as the Hawks will go back to work this Friday when Bandera comes to town.

Alternative Pest Control says Go Hawks
Fredericksburg beat Bandera, 73-22 giving the Hawks a bragging point in that they scored 12 points more than the Bulldogs.
Not what most teams need to be contemplating but CL had a chance to have a win that they could point to in giving them some stature. That game will have to wait a while longer.
Rory Preiss was the only Hawk to get into double digit scoring with 11 points and leading the team accounting for 8 rebounds.
Preiss has averaged 14 points in his past 7 games where he has reached double digit points consecutively.
Not much else to see hear as Canyon Lake will need to forget this game quickly as a 34 point game will not instill much confidence in this offense.
This week’s Friday game will be broadcast on the CLB network and you can get linked up on this site if you are wanting to hear or see how Canyon Lake will respond after this loss.
