Don’t Underestimate the Jumping Ability of Perez
Canyon Lake Volleyball started where they left off last year in district play as the Hawks ran their streak to 14 wins in a row after sweeping Boerne, 3-0.
“Ever since last Tuesday night we have been having stellar practices,” Head Coach Kim Paisley stated. “We had a good film session and we were energized all night and did not let up.”
The Hawks took the first two sets with little resistance after, 25-15 and 25-16 victories. Then the 3rd set interjected a bit more drama as the Greyhounds started to find their stride as they rounded the corner on the track.

Hill Country Furnishings says way to go Hawks
The Eagles had an open date last week which will add another ornament on the tree of how CL will attempt compete with a team two classes larger.
Akins is on a two game losing streak after starting the season 2-0 with wins over two teams that have a combined 1-9 record. However that sounds familiar to CL’s schedule as they too started their season 2-0 and those two teams now sport a 2-8 slate.
The Eagles offense has averaged 15 passes a game and 92 yards through the air. That comes to 6 yards per attempt and Akins will have 3 players that will dominate the reception of those throws.

The ReSporter: What is the overall attitude for the team as they prepare for a 6A school this Thursday?

Head Coach Charlie Drum
Coach Drum: “Practices after a win always help with the enthusiasm in practice. The boys are excited about playing a 6A team, and hopefully play with great energy.”
The ReSporter: What were some good things you took away from last week’s win over Lampasas?
Coach Drum: “Two things. Our special teams were definitely a plus, we were perfect on extra points and recovered an onside kick while cleanly recovering two of their onside kicks. Secondly, the way our offense took over the second half, controlling the clock and scoring points.”
The ReSporter: It seems that Akins running game is a little more advanced than their passing game, how do you see there offense? Read the rest here »
