Mountain Valley 7th A Team Taking in Coaches Talk after Win over Wimberley, 38-22
Mountain Valley 7th B Squad Takes Air out of Ball in Win over Wimberley
Mountain Valley’s 7th B team played lock down defense in the second half to wrestle the lead and win over Wimberley last Thursday night at Hawk Stadium, 16-12.
The Texans led the total yardage stat at halftime by a slim 9 yard cushion, 86-77 yards.
Then the second half had that same defense take the Texans to New Mexico when they held Wimberley to a total of 3 yards and goose eggs for the remainder of this game.
That defense allowed Mountain Valley to stage a 12 play 68 yard drive when Devon Morehead crossed the goal line for the eventual winning touchdown.
“They could not stop us because our line blocked so well,” Morehead said while using his head. “We did a great job and and we got better.”
On that fourth down interception, Morehead commented, “All I saw was the ball going straight and I just went after it.”

Canyon Lake Freshman team has sent a letter to the UIL, so they will look at taking the second quarter

Charlie McIntosh taking a break after 67 yard kick-off return agains Wimberley
out of the game of football.
With a affirmative to that request the Hawks would of had a tie game, 20-20.
The Hawks were also lethal on kick-off returns as they had over 250 return yards when Charlie McIntosh ran a kick-off back for their final score 67 yards.
“I was watching my blockers, (Kennith)Jowers, (Allen) Vavrecka, (Austin) Brooks and started jogging waiting for a hole to open up,” McIntosh started. “As soon as the hole opened, Austin Brennan started yelling at me to run…run…run.”
Canyon Lake has perfected the return and heaven knows they had a lot of practice in this game with Wimberley.

OLH’s record is deceiving based on their amount of injuries this year. The Hawks have had as many as three starters out since their game with Castle Hills.

Hawks are running for a Playoff Spot
Canyon Lake has thrown their proverbial hat into the District 27-3A race with their win over Bandera last week and will now see if the curtain can stay up so fans will know that last week’s game was not a one-act-play.
So after a winless six games, the Hawks find that they have a decent chance of at least one extra game after this season comes to a close.
Looking at team stats after two district games will give you an idea of who the heavy hitter schools are. (Stats are on District Standings Page)
This week District 27-3A is divided into thirds as each game is coupled with a team with an identical record.
Navarro will entertain Fredericksburg at the top of the food chain and Boerne and Bandera will be looking for leftovers on the other end of that dinner table.
The ReSporter will start by deciphering Boerne and Bandera teams.
The winner of this game will be back in the hunt for that elusive playoff spot while the loser will be in the process of categorizing their uniforms for next season.
Bandera and Boerne both are ranked as the last two teams in total defense which could give you a clue on why they are at the bottom of the standings.

Bracken has righted their ship as the Warriors opened with 36 straight points in a win over CASA, 67-21 at Warrior Stadium last Friday night.
“I thought we needed this ball game going into our game with OLH next week,” Head Coach Lloyd Fields said. “We had to rethink our philosophy and our grind it out football but this game we were very business like.”
It was homecoming for Bracken Christian and some of those former players saw a familiar offense in this game.
BCS has been a grind it out type of team and on this night the Warriors had three straight drives consisting of one play for a score. For the game, Bracken had four one play drives and one two play drive.
That was a vintage Warrior night for this Homecoming crowd.
The Rams started the game throwing an interception on their third play when Sam Hilgendorf snagged the errant pass that gave BCS a chance to draw first blood.

Sophomore Running Back Robert Woods running over Bandera
Hawks take Bulldogs for a walk as this year’s version of CL football won their first game with what you could call a complete game victory in Bandera, 27-6.
“We beat them up physically and that was our plan,” Head Coach Charley Drum started. “It is easy to give up when you are 0-6 overall and 0-1 in district, we have learned from what we have done this season…we knew that we would have to come out strong and we played a solid first quarter and we had some big plays.”
Complete Win for the Hawks.
First off, Canyon Lake’s new offense chewed up yardage on the ground with 367 yards at a 7 yard per carry clip.
Second off, Canyon Lake’s defense held Bandera to the lowest yardage total in Hawk history as these Bulldogs never got out of their back yard with just 109 yards of offense.
