Let’s Go Hawk!!
After two weeks of district action you can start to see a good idea of how this race will work out.
First off, Austin LBJ is still at the head of the class and has just one more serious challenger when they face Lampasas this Friday.
An expected win for LBJ but that is why they play the games axiom always makes an appearance.
Going by the way the body of work has played out will have the winner of the Fredericksburg/Canyon Lake game should give the victor an inside track shared by the loser of the match-up mentioned above.
The loser of the Freddie/Lake game should still have their fate in their own hands by winning the last two games for a 4th or 3rd seeding.
A match-up between the two schools yet to win a district contest will have that loser in a heap of trouble and the victor still in control of their own destiny.

Way to Go Hawks!!
Canyon Lake had a tougher schedule than Lampasas or Fredericksburg and that will let the Coaches and Fans know if that scenario proved to be a determining factor for The Lake.
The Hawks have now had two consecutive games with a good offensive showing which can help the defense by staying on the field longer taking minutes away from the opposing team.
Somerset and Boerne are the front runners in District 14-4A which is the district that becomes the first round of Bi-District contests.

James Garza goes through humongous hole left by the Offensive Line in Win over Taylor.
Mountain Valley 8th Grade won 2 games last year and that group of players are crafting a much better season with a 5-2 record as Freshman and two wins to start district play after disposing the Taylor Ducks, 20-16.

GAME RECAP:
Canyon Lake just missed out for an opportunity to upend a #1 Ranked opponent as Austin LBJ held on for a 6 point win giving the Hawks an opening game loss to start District 13-4A, 34-28.
“We had a great week of practice but they are so fast,” Head Coach Charley Drum said. “We grew up tonight and we will get better…we were solid and did a good job of controlling the clock and just missed a couple of opportunities tonight.”
The Lake was able to realize a lead twice with that first score coming in a true fishing slot-t possession.covering 63 yards in 18 plays and draining the clock scoring with 23 seconds on the first quarter clock, 7-0 lead.
CL’s defense forced a Jaguar punt to open the game for LBJ leading for that score.
Kolten Ramey continues his onslaught of taking many of the all-time defensive stats totaling 13 tackles for (TFL) loss with 4 of those take-downs being behind the line of scrimmage.

We are Proud of the Hawks!!
The Hawk Defense held LBJ 150 yards under their per game average that went a long way in opening the door for the CL offense to score points.
Ethan Schedlbaurer has been a welcome player on the defensive side of the ball and talked about the game and where the Hawks go now, “They (LBJ) different and were no different from previous games but we will have to take this result as an improvement and next week come back better than ever and always try to be our best.”
That 3rd quarter continues to have problems with another stanza of not scoring and only one touchdown in that quarter that came in the Hawks game with Georgetown East View.
Playing the top team in 4A Division I still had some good signs for Canyon Lake scoring 28 points and garnering over 100 yards more than what Austin had given up this season.
Griffen Williams as center was a key ingredient in a better rushing game, “We were a lot better I practice and our coaches set us up for success and watching film.”
On what will happen this week as district continues, “We (offensive line) will be working on staying low and staying on hips.”
The Lake had Johnson (143 yards) and James Bates (95 yards) right at the doorstep of previous Hawk teams than can hopefully get those cobwebs swapped away for a good finish.

Griffen Williams & Ethan Schedlbauer will concentrate on Taylor now!
CL was perfect passing percentage wise, but the results did not produce a passing grade throwing 2 times with only 1 yard advanced. That ranks 4th on the all-time list with 4 previous slot-t games with no yardage and the worst game was -4 yards against Bandera during the 2014 season.
Canyon Lake’s next opponent will be a road game at Taylor and a chance to get their first district win and a chance to control their own destiny in regards to being a high seed for the post-season.
Moral victories are frowned upon but being this close for an upset will hopefully be a booster shot for a team that can still realized a chance for a longer season.
Go Hawks!!
