The ReSporter: Coach Fields, how has your week been going?

Head Coach Lloyd Fields
Coach Fields: “Our kids will play well this week. They have made tremendous strides and we just need to stay away from injuries.”
“We were 45 point favorites on our opening night’s game that we lost and so we are not taking any opponent lightly.”
The ReSporter: What type of offense and defense does Prairie Lea play?
Coach Fields: “They will play a 2/3 defense and a base/spread offense or J-Bird.”
The ReSporter: I can see that The ReSporter might have done more bad with that question than good.
Let’s try again, what are you hoping to do in this week’s game?

After further review…6-Man Football should start a petition of having plays going to replay.
Bracken Christian made that concept a mute point as the win was put on their record when they wore out the Logos Lions, 34-30 last Friday night in the Garden of Eden. (Houston)
“I have said all week that we wanted to play better and we did not fold it up and responded,” Head Coach Lloyd Fields said.
Back to the ‘instant replay’ saga.

The ReSporter: What is your thoughts for this game with Sugar Land Logos?
Coach Fields: “These guys can motor and they can score in two or three plays much like we used to be able to do.”
The ReSporter: Tell us about Sugar Land Logos’ game with SA The Winston?
Coach Fields: “SA The Winston fumbled eight times in their game with Logos and they still took them to the fourth quarter. Our goal is to be better than last week and to play the full four quarters. You can see that our game with Austin was lost in that second quarter and we can’t have a let down like that and expect to win.
Yes, our goal is to play better, but of course winning would be better.”

If Bracken Christian can see the end of the tunnel then they better be sure they are not running on a train track.
Sugar Land Logos will be a much improved team this year and the Lions even showed a much improved team during the playoffs last season after a Warrior blow out to begin last year.

Bracken Warriors started their year with a loss as Austin Hill Country Knights jumped on the home team with an answer and then some for every touchdown but Bracken scored.
There are glimpses of great play, but those glimpses just don’t last long enough to gather that elusive ‘momentum’ word.
“Our goal this week is to play better and play four quarters,” Head Coach Lloyd Fields said. “In order to do that we will need to start playing with a sense of urgency.”
What air that was in the balloon seemed to be sucked out as soon as Bracken failed to score on their second possession while resting on the three yard line with nothing to show for a drive that could of tied or put BCS in the lead.

The ReSporter: The Castle Hills scrimmage was an eye opener.
Coach Fields: “Castle Hills was the best scrimmage team we have ever played…We are a work in progress and the quicker we grow up the better we will be.”
The ReSporter: What set that Castle Hills squad different than those other scrimmages?
Coach Fields: “That was the best back we have faced since Walker with Kerrville OLH two years ago. We are not as fast as we used to be…we have have run out of preparation time and we are not there yet, we had four weeks now (of practice) and we could use two more weeks, but the season starts this Friday ready or not.”
The ReSporter: What have you done as a result of last week’s game?
Coach Fields: “We have taken Davis Scott from defensive end to linebacker and moved John Colby from linebacker to x-backer and Jeff Camp from x-backer to defensive end and now we will retool.”

Opening Day
This will be the sixth year in a row where your Warriors have opened their season with AHC with an overall record of 6-2.
Austin Hill Country is one of just three teams to beat Bracken on their home field since 2007 season.
That fraternity is small with Kerrville OLH and Austin NYOS as the other two schools to pull off this rarity.

Bracken Christian Football team had their dress rehearsal last Friday night against Castle Hills as

Warrior Gets Ready for Play-Time at Dress Rehearsal
these two teams met on the Warrior field.
One thing you could certainly deduce in this game is BCS might need to go back into a dressing room and be sure that they have their right make-up on.
The scrimmage part of this game was about even except for the second string scrimmage.
Those plays were dominated by your younger Warriors.
Quarterback Brady Beene stood tall in the pocket and delivered several on the mark passes.
Another up and comer had to be the running of Daniel Forgione, his skills had this team advancing the ball consistently.

The ReSporter: Hey Coach Fields, how was your first scrimmage?

Fullback and Defensive End Preston Koch
Coach Fields: “Very pleased with the defense…our defense will hit you. Our x-backer (Jeff Camp) and our defensive ends controlled the line.”
The ReSporter: What happened offensively?
Coach Fields: “Our offense was hit and miss, but we got better as the night went on. Our spread offense is still a work in progress and we might have a power spread.”
The ReSporter: Where are you compared to this time last year?

Uncertain future would be the theme this year as Bracken Warriors prepare

Head Coach Lloyd Fields
for their two team scrimmage this Friday.
“Everything is in flux,” Head Coach Lloyd Fields said. “Our offense is still a work in progress and we are starting over from square one.”
The Warriors have been ahead of the curve these past three years with a returning QB Eli Achilles calling the signals. All three of those years had that returning quarterback.
Now BCS has replaced those three years of experience for three quarterbacks vying for a chance to call the signals.
“All the positions are open,” Coach Fields fielded.
There is one given for this year’s team and that would be the Warriors tight offensive set. Bracken has some proven entities in that formation which will give Coach Fields a softer pillow on Friday nights after games.
“We have a Sophomore center Gunnar Stolhandske who proved himself last season as a freshman and he has continued to improve. Then having Goober (Preston Koch) and Davis Scott back as Seniors makes this our gold standard,” Coach Fields elaborated.
