Friday, October 12th, 2012Mountain Valley 8th Grade Blanks Billies, 0-0 and 14-0
Friday, October 12th, 2012Mountain Valley Eighth Grade ‘B’ squad did not get the better draw when thinking about start time for this game.
Rain was the winner when a downpour was going on through much to this contest.
Both teams could not muster 50 yards of offense as just holding onto the ball should of been worth extra points.
Mountain Valley started things off well when they took their first possession to the Billies four yard line. But this young club could not capitalize and gave the ball up on downs.
On this drive Andrew Neel to Mason Blackburn 32 yard pass play would be the biggest play and over half of the total offense for the game.
The play set the Hawks up deep in Fredericksburg territory, but the rains became the focus point as they continued negating a grand opportunity to score.

Canyon Lake JV Beat Billies, 21-14
Friday, October 12th, 2012Fredericksburgs Junior Varsity had a perfect play call right off the bat, when on the kick-off, Canyon Lake thought they had the returner with a short return….then a pass laterally to Sammy Studebaker was set up with a wall of blockers.
Result? Seventeen seconds into the game and the Billies had a 7-0 lead and looking at a stunned Hawk team across the field.
All was not lost, however, as this Hawk team proceeded to march 75 yards in 11 plays tying the game with a touchdown.
Seven minutes was worked off the clock and so for comparison sakes:
Fredericksburg had the ball for 17 seconds and a score.
Canyon Lake had the ball for 6:14 seconds and a score.
The Junior Varsity had 30 yards through the air and 40 yards on the ground for their first drive.
Canyon Lake had another chance for a quick score, but an interception stopped a scoring opportunity.
On their first drive, Fredericksburg had three of four plays that gained 36 yards in the opposite direction. Errant snaps were the culprit on two of those plays and one was on a punt.

Pre/Pre/Game: Bracken @ Gustine Tigers
Thursday, October 11th, 2012Bracken Christian Warriors have been thrown a curve ball this week.

Head Coach Lloyd Fields
The game with SA Atonement was cancelled and BCS has been trying to find some teams with open dates to play.
The Pre/Game article with SA Atonement will have to be scrapped and now a new team and place to play will be the result.
Gustine, about a three hour drive up 281, contacted Bracken needing a game for this Friday. So, the Warriors will now be traveling to a Division I UIL destination.
Gustine was very proactive simply because this weekend was going to be their Homecoming game.
That is what put a sense of urgency for getting this game scheduled so quickly.
What do we know about Gustine? Not much…They have a 1-5 record this season, but this team has been decimated by injuries and finished one game with just six players.
The Tigers were picked for second place in their district to begin this season.
Pre/Game: SA Atonement (1-3) @ Bracken (4-1)

This Season's Results: BCS 56 Austin Hill Country 06 SAA 00 Fredericksburg Heritage 46 BCS 66 Sugarland Logos 20 SAA 55 SA Sunnybrook 21 BCS 60 Brenham Christian 12 SAA 00 SA Castle Hills 47 BCS 58 Boerne Geneva 58 SAA 12 Boerne Geneva 58 BCS 58 SA Lutheran 00
So here is the pre/game talk for San Antonio Atonement and Bracken.
Both teams have played an immediate opponent in Boerne Geneva, and both teams were beaten by that team.
Bracken Christian lost 58-56 while Atonement went down 58-12. Both of these games have been played in the past two weeks, so now you have an idea of what will happen this Friday night at Warrior Stadium.
Another Mercy game.
This is the time of year that Bracken has a schedule with several San Antonio teams. The history of 6-Man football in San Antonio is not good. The teams rarely have a team that can take good teams to the limit.
Bracken has faced San Antonio Six Man teams 16 times in their short history. Bracken’s record is 14-2. The two losses were during Bracken’s first year when they won one game and that game was against a San Antonio team.

Pre/Game: CL Hawks (1-4) @ Fredericksburg (4-1)

A lot has changed in the past year in the football world. Fredericksburg only needs one more win to match their win total the past three years. Night and Day could be another way of putting the difference between the past and now for the Billies.
Meanwhile, Canyon Lake has, ‘fallen and can’t get up’, so far this season.
Take a few game moments away and this Hawk team could also be 4-1 instead of 1-4. La Grange was the first team that did anything they wanted in their game with CL.
There was a chance that the Hawks could of easily been held scoreless in that game and the defense was abused by La Grange.
Canyon Lake has proven that they don’t like water.

Bracken Christian Wins Homecoming Game, 58-0
Friday, October 5th, 2012The Bracken Christian Warriors got to their Homecoming Dance early as they beat SA Lutheran 58-0 with

Sophomore Coy Zunker with a smile that says a thousand words
a Mercy game at Bracken Stadium on Friday night.
The SA Lutheran Mustangs took the opening kick and started the game with a very impressive drive. The Mustangs muffed the kick off and started on their three yard line.
Bracken was licking their chops with this opportunity, but were surprised by a methodical drive down the field. A 12 play drive that churned out 47 yards of real estate and had taken five minutes off the first quarter clock before the Warriors could finally get their bearings and halt the Mustangs at the Warriors 30 yard line.
“We started slow,” Head Coach Lloyd Fields started. “We were looking at a new offense and our defense was lined up incorrectly. We adjusted and then played much better.”
San Antonio Lutheran would not pass the midfield stripe for the rest of the game as Bracken’s defense became opportunistic and stingy.
Those 47 yards on Lutheran’s first drive, was also a high water mark for this Mustang team as the rest of their game went backwards to the tune of -23 yards.
The Defense also scored twice on two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns.

Friday, October 5th, 2012Coaches Corner: Bracken’s Lloyd Fields
Friday, October 5th, 2012The ReSporter: How has your team handled their first loss of the

Head Coach Lloyd Fields
Coach Fields: “We lost our first game during the regular season since 2009 and these players are very workmanlike and don’t show a lot of emotion, they understand what we need to do and will display that on the field.”
The ReSporter: How do you handle the rest of this season as District play starts in earnest?
Coach Fields: “We are real happy with our offense, but we will be making some adjustments in our games coming up. We have moved Davis Scott from running back to receiver to help replace losing Arnold Adame. We had lost our vertical game with Adame’s loss and that will help replace that hole. Scott is also faster than Arnold was, but Arnold had more size.
Eli (Achilles) will be moving to running back and Sam Hilgendorf will be our quarterback. Preston Koch will stay as our power back.”
