Bracken is Knocked Brack in Loss to Castle Hills, 46-41
Sunday, October 18th, 2015Bracken Christian took the Castle Hills Eagles to the brink but still left the game on the short end of the score, 46-41.
The Warriors were in the game as they had chances of sending Castle Hills into the loss column as time just ran out on the scrappy Bracken team.
“We played a good game but we had too many missed opportunities,” Head Coach Hosea Stredic recounted. “We are trying to teach the players to think and play football but we have to trust one another and take care of responsibilities.”
BCS started the game with a 6 play 49 yard drive for the first score when Presley Day crossed the goal line for his first of three touchdowns on the night.
CL Hawks “Bull”dozed Dogs, 42-7
Saturday, October 17th, 2015Canyon Lake took the Bandera Bulldogs to a Poodle Kennel in win, 42-7 as the Hawks are now tied for 2nd place in District 14-4A-D1 race.
“We played a complete game and that is something we haven’t done this year,” Head Coach Charley Drum said. “I told the kids, it was now or never as it would be tough coming back from an 0-2 hole…We are playing with intensity just like last week and this will be a moral booster for the kids….I am proud of them.”
The Hawks rushed for their largest amount of yardage ever in this victory as CL passed the Marion total in a game played earlier this season.
Bandera transplant, Tanner Fairs, also eclipsed Eduardo Covarrubias longest run from scrimmage by one yard as he raced for 76 yards for a his second score in the first quarter.
CL went right to work, taking their first drive for 61 yards on 11 plays with Faris covering the last 19 yards for an inkling of things to come and a lead that would not be threatened by the Poodles, 7-0.

Mountain Valley 8A team completed the sweep of Liberty Hill in dramatic fashion, scoring with 4 seconds to avert a tie, 20-12.
“Both of our 8th grade teams played great,” Head Coach Brandon Pawelek said. “Last week, we went over to Liberty Hill and got beat in both games, so it was great to see our kids win both games this week.”
The happy Coach Pawelek then put his thoughts for that last game, “Last week the A team battled until the very end and we lost on a last second play and this week we came back and executed very well on both sides of the ball.”
“We had to overcome 3 turnovers in the first half and our defense only gave up one touchdown during that stretch,” Coach Pawelek said excitedly. “The defense was solid all game long and our offense had some big plays, especially our last touchdown to go ahead with 12 seconds left….it was a really fun game for the coaches and the players.”
The ReSporter would also add the game was fun for the fans too.
CLJV Hawks Use Bulldogs for Herding in Win, 46-7
Friday, October 16th, 2015
Canyon Lake JV beat Bandera in a run away to improve to 2-0 in District 14-4A play, Thursday night at Hawk Stadium, 46-7.
“We started to do what they are suppose to do,” Head JV Coach John Barthels said. “We were more aggressive and this team is stepping it up in practice against the Varsity and this is the result.”
The Hawks started this evening with a fumble on their 4th play of the game after covering 51 yards on those snaps.
That would be the only time a Bulldog would stop Canyon Lake as the rest of this night was all Hawk.
Running back/Defensive back, Lee Stafford had 43 yards on that first drive, with a long of 38 yards through the middle of that Bulldogs line.

Bracken is Brack in Win over NB Wildcats, 47-0
Sunday, October 11th, 2015
Cade Middleton, Daniel Forgione and Brady Beene are ready for taking on district foes after win over New Braunfels Christian
Bracken Christian roared back in their second district game and skunked the New Braunfels Christian Wildcats, 47-0.
Coach had several players in the game that played more than usual and on top of that were playing positions on the field that they had not played before.
When asked if the players did well that were in positions not played before, Head Coach Hosea Stredic said, “The didn’t get a F.”
This game was over after the first drive as Senior Daniel Forgione had the first 3 carries for 47 yards with Baylee Tremont finishing the drive off with his first of two touchdowns on the day.
Tremont missed the 100 yard rushing mark by just four steps as several Warriors got into action on this night.
Liberty Hill Plugs Canyon Lake’s Dam in Loss, 31-7
Friday, October 9th, 2015Canyon Lake had a tough night in loss to Liberty Hill with an anemic offensive night losing, 31-7.
“We turned the ball over and then we faced a defensive line that is the best I have seen in the last few years,” Head Coach Charley Drum calculated. “When an team defers during the pre/game coin toss, then you know they will have a pretty stout defense.”
Canyon Lake had a decent first half only trailing by 7 points and that from a fumble return being the difference.
“They took advantage of our three mistakes,” Coach Drum continued. “Our younger kids grew up tonight and there are a lot of positives we can take from tonights game…..We are right into ball games and we need to find ways of cleaning up mistakes.”
The Hawks first half numbers had 117 yards and during the second half CL totaled another 9 yards of offense with 3 turnovers giving you an idea that a 24 point loss not looking as bad as it sounds.
